I hate DishNetwork. (NSBR Rant)

We have had them for 10 months with no problem up until a week ago. I think i posted on here how our box went out last friday and they made us go all weekend and Monday with no tv until we finally got the new one via UPS on Tuesday. Hooked it up, called to activate it no problem. But now this one is screwing up too. It keeps shutting itself off. We called again and they say like with the other one its not getting power correctly and that they'll send us another box again or have someone come out to check it out. I opted to have someone come out, but they can't get here until Wednesday! We have an 18 month contract with them and from some other unhappy testimonials i found online we will be charged atleast $240 if we cancel early. I REALLY want Comcast again. we have their internet, and i was planning on getting a home phone with them so now we are thinking about going ahead and getting out of Dishnetwork and switching all over to Comcast. They are Awesome. So, would you do the same if you weren't happy with the service, despite the big early termination fees? I'm torn. I'm SO #&@*$ with them and their stupid crappy equipment. I really hate not having tv. It'll work in spurts; as soon as i think its okay it cuts out again.:cursing:

okay. there is my NSBR rant, lol. I've had a bad week with having to get new cell phone, satelite quitting on me twice, storm knocking out my power, etc. etc.....

Awww ((((COREY))))
Big hugs girl, all that SUCKS!
We have Comcast and are happy most of the time!

On a related note:Zak broke his Cell this week...Thankfully we have insurance on his phone, but its the SECOND time in less than two years that we have had to make a claim on it!

I guess you have to think of it like this... (I would)
How much do I pay monthly? Does the amount to terminate equal the monthly payments for the 8 mths you have left? Or is it less b/c one way or another they will still get your money. KWIM:(
This is exactly why I hate contracts they suck you in and you feel stuck,
I'm going through something similar w/Tmobile:mad:

I'm so sorry to hear you're having all of those problems! We've had Dish for five years now and have never had a problem. We really love them. Could it be a problem with a power surge to the box or how it's plugged in? I hope you can get it figured out. Or, at least get out of your contract without paying an arm and a leg.
Good luck!

i'm not sure what it is. We haven't had any problems until now. it usually plugged into a surge protector and when i just plug it into the wall it still does it. we just paid $2400 to have all of our electrical work redone in the house, so i don't think its on our end or we would have had problems from the start i'd think. if you break contract they charge you so much per remaining month or the lesser of $240, i think is what i read somewhere. Something like that. i don't know what we are going to do yet. i'll probably call them and ask them exactly what i will have to pay to get out, and how to return the equipment.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having problems. I absolutely love my Dish Network. We only had one problem and that was that our box got fried after a lightening storm.

Awww! I'm sorry that things are not going well for you. We've had Dish for about 4 years now, and we've had nothing but great service from them (knock on wood!). Like Paula, my only issue was after a lightning storm, and they had us fixed up in just a couple of days.

But being a TV junkie, I know that I'd be DYING without my TV for that amount of time. Heck, dh would probably want to go get a hotel room. LOL!

We are going on year 5 with our Dish and I love it!!! The only thing I hate is that is does go out in a storm but if that is my biggest complaint I am good with that!!!!! I hope you get it all figured out soon, I would probably go into convulsions if I was w/o TV for more than 6 hours!!!!

yah, i'm pretty frustrated. Like i said we have had no problems until this last week, mostly i'm just mad that it takes so long for things to be resolved, lol. I wanted comcast originally but we didnt have it here yet. now we do and i want it back! i don't know if we're going to cancel yet. Chad is really mad and wants to cancel. i just want tv one way or another. we'll see what happens!

We had Dish for years, moved to the east coast and had problem, after problem after problem and their customer service sucked!!!!!!!!!! So we just switched to Direct TV in December and absolutely love it!!! Sorry you are having to go through that.

ugh, i hate contracts!
we had Dish for 2 years with no problems but I decided to cancel it and enroll my son in online school instead.

they sent us a prepaid box to return the box and remotes. They also wanted us to return some part that is attached to the dish on the roof. Which I think is totally ridiculous. I'm not going up on the roof. DH refused to do it (as a matter of principle). So I called Dish and told them we weren't returning that part and they were fine with it. CS made a note of it on our account.

oh they also said we could transfer our service to someone else.

good luck with whatever you decide

ugh, that stinks! it does sound power related if the same thing is happening 2 boxes in a row. we have dish network since 1999 and haven't had too many problems. but we're biding our time til verizon FIOS tv becomes available. i'd much prefer to not lose service when a storm comes! :)

UGH! I am so sorry!! I have had the worst luck with Dish Network. When we got our satellite two years ago they were incredibly incompetent and rude, so I know I chewed a lot of them out over the phone and just this past week our satellite died and when they came out to fix it they said that our receiver got fried from something they had done two years ago when they installed it!!!! I was so mad!!!

I think you'll find good and bad customer service experiences with any of the cable/satelite providers. I think where you live is also a big factor in the service that you get. We had Comcast for years and then suddenly the cable freaked out. Remember when tv switched to having that 5 second delay in live tv? Well, I could see both the live version and the delayed version... AT THE SAME TIME. So it was like the live version was ghosted on top of the delayed version. It was weird. So a tech came out and couldn't fix it, and a second tech came out and couldn't fix it, and finally they said, "I think it's a paranormal thing"... whatever. I cancelled and switched to Direct TV. I couldn't be happier. In the last 2 years we only lost service once for about 2 hours during a bad lightning storm. We live in a high wind area and it's not bothered by that at all. I have a clearer picture than I ever had with cable. And getting rid of that "paranormal" ghosting was awesome. LOL

Best of luck on solving the TV problems!

I loathe Comcast. With every fiber of my being. However, they are our only cable option here, so I'm stuck with them. Good luck!! :)
