Any doctors in the house?

A few days ago, I missed the bottom step of my stairs and went crashing down onto the ceramic tile. I landed hard on the side of my foot and then my knee on the same leg. I even cried a tiny bit it hurt so badly. As soon as I recovered enough to pick my sorry self up off the floor, I iced the foot. There was no noticeable bruising and only a tiny bit of swelling. Over the last few days, I've been able to put more and more weight on it, and I can even stand one-legged now.

But...it's still kind of tender....like it was bruised. My husband is all worried, but I think that since I can't see anything to trouble me, and since I can walk on it, that it's no big deal. I ran my fingers over the area, trying to compare the bumps to my other foot, and it feels the same.

Do I need to be worried? I told Michael that I don't have time to be worried...I have layouts to make, guest CT positions to fill, and kits to design. There is no xay time in there at all. :)

if it keeps feeling better day by day, then I wouldn't worry about it. if it continues to bother you, get it checked.

Motrin and tylenol will take care of any swelling and pain. I had an extremely sore neck the past 2 days. Neighbor doctor told me to take 3 Motrin and 2 tylenol at the same time every 6 hours and to ice it down. I thought (as a nurse), holy heck, that's alot of meds to take, esp. at one time and together but IT WORKED!!!

Hope it doesn't bother you too much!!

Sounds like you might have some soft tissue damage, but that's my (non-doctor) opinion. For example, even though my auto accident happened almost 8 weeks ago, and I had NO bruises from my injuries, I'm still in physical therapy and doing exercises. It was all soft tissue damage. (Long story short, my right arm, which was attached to the steering wheel as I was driving, got whipped over to the left *really really fast* and went numb for 90 minutes after the accident).

the key is to watch for improvment. if it starts to feel worse at any point call your doc. otherwise, TRY to stay off of it as often as possible and if you start to get some swelling rotate ice with heat. :)

Oh - my - goodness! You sound like me!!! On Thursday I fell down our front steps. It made such a commotion (probably b/c I was wearing flip flips) that it scared a couple of people that were walking down the street lol. But...I seriously had to sit down and was tearing because it hurt so much. I had such a hard time sleeping that first night b/c it HURT so bad any way I had the foot. But I'm crazy and took the girls to the park Friday morning (a park w/those rubber/foam grounds...there's no way I would've survived hobbling/hopping on sand). In my case it got much better throughout Friday and I was actually able to sleep and it didn't hurt. It kept getting better that on Saturday morning we went to the park (I walked them, 7 blocks, in the stroller) that had sand everywhere. Though I did tell my girls that I was in no condition to push.

I was really worried that first night, and would've called the doctor if it hadn't gotten better on its own.

No tips, but I sure hope you feel better soon. I once tore ligaments in my ankle while getting out of bed. Sounds stupid, I know, but there was a pillow on the floor and my foot went out from underneath of me. I limped around on it for 2 weeks before seeing the doctor who could still tell where I'd damaged it in the Xay. I had to wear a "sporty" ankle brace for a while after that, and still have to wear it sometimes.

Good luck!!!!
