Ok, so I am pretty steamed right now!!

I had my dog outside letting him do is business. And a man walks by on the sidewalk. My dog runs over to him and starts barking. Bear in mind that my entire yard is fenced in. I grab him by the collar and am getting him to quiet down, when this a$$hole picks up a rock from the sidewalk and throws it at my dog. He yells "If you bite me, I'll kill you, you SOB (insert words here)."

Now what kind of IDIOT does this? I was RIGHT there holding his collar. Well, I used a few choice words for this jerk. And guess what he does? He calls the damn cops on me telling them I threatened him. WTH???

The cops just left and I explained the situation and that my dog was quieting down until Mr. Dumb A$$ threw a rock at him. My poor dog has a small bump where the rock hit him. Then they proceed to tell me that this man said that I threatened him with my dog. Good grief - HOW?

You know what's funny - the entire time the cops were here, my dog sat by the one and let him pet him. Yea, my dog is really ferocious. Anyway, I just had to get that out. I am so pissed right now. I see this man all the time and never has my dog barked at him before. This leads me to believe that he's been mean to my dog and that's why he's reacting this way.

Pretty sure I would've done more than said a few choice words if someone DARED to throw a ROCK at my dog while I was STANDING THERE. Guaranteed the cops would've arrested me.

Holy moly do I hate people.

Actually, the few choice words (omitting the profanity here) was that if he EVER did that again, I would get my 38 and make sure he COULDN'T.

And yes, I told the cops that and they told me that I had the right to defend my property including my dog. LOL

Ugh! Thankfully they could get your side of the story and after seeing the dog they can make the right judgment on who to believe. {{HUGS}} Hate it when stupid, mean people ruin our days :(

The thing is - there have been several cats here in the neighborhood (one of which was mine) that have died from poisoning and the cops told me today that he is the one doing it, but they have yet to catch him in the act.

So this man is evil when it comes to animals and I don't feel bad at all being rude to him.

What a disgusting excuse for a man. I hope they catch and put him away.

Thats terrible Paula! It is BEYOND me why some people are so cruel to animals. I would certainly keep an eye on your dog as long as this lunatic is roaming your street.

Little side-story... when my mom got our first dog, Tessa (a small poodle mix) about 15 years ago, she was walking her around our neighborhood. A man (grown man) walked out of his garage and THREW a string of firecrackers at Tessa and my mom. Tessa was just a brand-new pup and the firecrackers burner her fur and she screamed like someone was killing her because the noise was so loud. She even went mostly-deaf from the attack.
And this man had NO REASON to do it. He was just an evil, evil man. They weren't even walking on the sidewalk, the were in the street. After the firecracker attack, Tessa was so afraid of loud noises that we would have to literally tranquilize her during the 4th of July or she'd get so scared she'd go into seizures.

Wow, I can't believe that! How incredibly rude!!!!

I admit I am not an animal person, but I would NEVER ever hurt one or say anything mean to one (or it's owner)--unless it was in defense--like real defense not because a dog barked at me.

What an ass! I'm surprised that they didn't arrest the man for throwing a rock at the dog if it left a mark. Seems very inhumane to me.

I'm terrified of dogs, but I would NEVER ever do something to harm one.

Excuse my french, but WTF?? There's something wrong with somebody who would throw a rock at a fenced dog just because it's barking at him.

I can't believe he did that, the dog did not touch him. He's more of a threat than your dog is. WTF is wrong with people?? There's def something wrong with the guy, I hope they catch him in the act ASAP so they can put him away!

OMGosh, Paula, that's awful!! Please please be careful with letting your dog out in the yard if the cops have any inclination this guy is harming the cats. :( Any way you can report him to PETA? :) I bet they'd love to speak to him. Or maybe the ASPCA to investigate?

I truly wished this surprised me. It just saddens me. Unfortunately, I've heard worse stories locally of abuse to dogs. I don't know what people think gives them the right to hurt another living being - especially one much smaller than them.
My thought on this guy - most likely he has a mental disorder that he was taking for a while which is why there haven't been issues with him before, but he may have gone off his medicine and thus creating the rash of disturbing behavior and possibly deaths.
Semi-related, one of our next door neighbors has a young-ish boy (9-10 or so) and they have a dog of their own. But that hasn't stopped the kid from poking through the chain link fence at our dogs to annoy them. My husband has had to not so gently yell at him to stop several times. Why provoke an animal? I just don't understand it. The same people have a younger boy who tries to feed our dogs stuff, but we have no idea what it is so we've had to ask him to stop too.

Goodness! Dogs are such good judges of character, no wonder your dog was barking at him :)
