Ok, so you all remember the croissant and pancakes hash out with the monster-in-law last week right?
Well, I forgot to update you all on the progress of this ongoing dispute. LOL
She called again, and I just told her that I pre-paid for the food, it's non-refundable and we ARE having croissants and fresh fruit!!
So yesterday she called to tell me that the store where I bought the food is having a sale on, yes, you guessed it croissants. They are having a buy one dozen, get the next one free sale as well as a sale on the fresh fruit - all melons are .39 cents a pound.
Fast forward to yesterday. She called up there and told them that I had pre-paid for four dozen croissants and the fruit and guess what? They gave me the discount!! She ended up saving me $13.00 which yes, she applied to the cost of the bacon and pancake mix. ROFLMAO
Isn't that just the craziest thing you've ever heard? LOL

It's good that she got the discount, but I think it's kinda stingy that she applied it to HER purchase, since you never asked for the bacon or pancake mix...but oh well. At least you're not stuck frying bacon for 30 people!

Well, not having to fry all the bacon and flip all those pancakes is definitely the pot of gold at the end of this rainbow! LOL

LOL, btw...I decided to bug my mom a bit the other day...we were talking about meals for our upcoming camping trip and she said she'd buy pancake mix, but we wouldn't do sausages or bacon, because we didn't need to. I was all "but MOOOOOM...I want BACON".
She didn't put up with it, though, hahaha. I don't get bacon. *pout*

LOL Bree!! I have to admit, the bacon sounded yummy, I just didn't want to be the one that was in charge of frying it. LOL

I'm fairly certain that it's a sin to serve pancakes without bacon. But that gets overruled when you're serving 30 people :p
When we went camping and cooked over the fire each persons breakfast was made separately (for the most part). There was pancake batter, bacon, sausages, and eggs. So if you wanted 2 pancakes with some blueberries and a piece of sausage, that's what ya got.
Best camping EVER! :p

I'm sorry but you just can't have pancakes without sausage or bacon. It's just not right... LOL!!! :p You can always fry some up before you go and just heat it real quick while the pancakes are cooking...
Paula - glad you won even though she stole your money... :glare:

Ok, I'm the odd one here... I like my pancakes alone with maple syrup.
Sausage... ewwww
And bacon is for eggs or in a sandwich... hehehe

Oh good grief! She sounds a lot like the mother of one of my dearest friends. Control freak is putting it mildly. Thank goodness my MIL is a much more reasonable person.
I'm so happy for you Paula that you won. :)

YAY! So glad you won Paula! I think it's nuts that she would but in and take your $13 when she is the one that went out and bought the stuff without asking but whatever, let her have it, it's worth it not having to make pancakes and bacon!

Victory is sweet, isn't it?! But what is she going to do with the pancake mix and bacon -- is she going to cook it?

Glad you've been able to hold your ground for the most part, even with some of the curve balls she's throwing you now. At least she's taking an ongoing interest, instead of being nasty and dis-inviting you from the outing (that's something my MIL would do). Sounds like to me she just has too much time on her hands....
