Swimmer's ear? HELP me it hurts! LOL

SO for the past couple of years I have noticed that water gets trapped in my left ear really easily and sometimes it takes hours to get it out after swimming, etc. Well we went to the beach this past weekend and one wave SMACKED me on that side and now it hurts like the dickens and I can barely hear out of that ear. I almost put some peroxide in there this morning but then I thought won't that just ADD to what's already in there? If the ocean water won't come out, what would make the peroxide? I checked out WebMd but it just says take ibuprofen and go to the doc, something I don't have time to do today  Anyone have any other suggestions?

Hyland's has a swimmer's ear drop that you can use. I get it at Whole Foods, but any store carrying homeopathic products will probably have it. I've also heard using a blow dryer or heating pad helps..the warm air helps the pain. And pain relievers is right. The other option is prescription ear drop, but if you don't have time, you can pop into a pharmacy to find the Hyland's ear drops and try them out.

well since I work for three docs I may get up the nerve and tell them, hey prescribe me some drops or I have to take the afternoon away from work and go to the doc, lol. I bet they might do it. But the homeopathic drops sound good too. Maybe dh can get some on his lunch break. The problem with me going to MY doc is she is on the other side of the county. She's good but I hate she's so far away. Gonna call dh and tell him to go check out some drops for me. That's what i was hoping...is that something was available OTC

this was always my parent's remedy to swimmer's ear (as long that the ear drum is not ruptured)

Put a few drops of Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol (70%) and a few drops of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide into each ear, one ear at a time. Keep the solution in for 10 minutes or until the bubbling stops. The hydrogen peroxide acts on any germs, and the alcohol will cause water to evaporate.

I get swimmer's ear all the time. That homeopathic stuff works wonders! There's also some drops you can put in your ears before you go swimming that really helps too.

you can heat some sweet oil or olive oil up too for the pain...

I've used the alcohol/peroxide combo before as well...

I've never used the hylands but I do love their teething tablets and pink eye relief (helps my itchy allergy eyes lol) so their products are pretty reliable
