I have missed you girls! I'm baaaaack!
I already posted this update at DST but I thought I'd bring it here too!
What a crazy few months it has been girls...I've been totally MIA and now I'm finally ready to share a little snippet of what has been going on. Amidst delivering Parker early, having the blood transfusions and other health issues, our family has been dealing with other non-medical issues that I have stayed private about mostly just on principle of not wanting to be whiney (LOL!)
Three days before Parker was born, DH lost his job. We seem to have horrible luck in this aspect because he lost his last job when Naomi was 3 weeks old. I got a lot of great support here that time but in this instance, it was almost too much to handle, let alone share.
He was able to find another job but it was very low paying and only part-time, so we knew that something had to give. David decided to enlist in the Army and we have moved from Ohio! Nathan is staying in Ohio with his dad for now (which is really hard but all parties have agreed it is best for the time being). Naomi, Parker and I moved to KY to live with my sister while David is in Basic Training and AIT. Not only did I grow up military, but my ex-husband was also in the Army (when Nathan was Naomi's age, as a matter of fact) so I am quite familiar with military life.
I still don't like it...of course I'm worried about all of the what-ifs. I doubt anyone would argue with the statement that military life can be rough and that it is hard being away from your spouse, especially with small children. However I do support my husband's choice and we will do what we always do....make the best out of the situation at hand.
He is sworn in and leaves for Basic on July 9th so right now we are just trying to cherish this last week we have together for the year! If everything goes as planned, we will be reunited at our first duty station sometime around Christmas. Because David chose to go Airborne, our first duty station will either be in North Carolina, Alaska, or Vicenza, Italy. I have actually been to two of those places (not Alaska) and would be fine with whatever. Overseas would be exciting of course, but being stateside means more time with Nathan...so I guess we'll just see what happens!
During this 5 months that I am staying with my sister, our kids get to play and grow up together...and they are already having a blast (she has a 4 month old, a 4 year old and a 5 year old). I am enjoying the time with my family and the support that only your family can give during an uncertain time like this!
I know he is happy to be providing stable employment for our family, the kind where you don't get laid off at the most inopportune times. He also qualified for the largest signing bonus the Army gives out so there's no doubt that will come in handy. I'd rather have my spouse here than to have money, but a spouse's company and love doesn't diaper the kids so that's life!
Well I suppose that is the end of my update...thanks for reading! I hope to be around here a little more now that things have calmed down
