I have missed you girls! I'm baaaaack! ;) I already posted this update at DST but I thought I'd bring it here too! :)

What a crazy few months it has been girls...I've been totally MIA and now I'm finally ready to share a little snippet of what has been going on. Amidst delivering Parker early, having the blood transfusions and other health issues, our family has been dealing with other non-medical issues that I have stayed private about mostly just on principle of not wanting to be whiney (LOL!)

Three days before Parker was born, DH lost his job. We seem to have horrible luck in this aspect because he lost his last job when Naomi was 3 weeks old. I got a lot of great support here that time but in this instance, it was almost too much to handle, let alone share.

He was able to find another job but it was very low paying and only part-time, so we knew that something had to give. David decided to enlist in the Army and we have moved from Ohio! Nathan is staying in Ohio with his dad for now (which is really hard but all parties have agreed it is best for the time being). Naomi, Parker and I moved to KY to live with my sister while David is in Basic Training and AIT. Not only did I grow up military, but my ex-husband was also in the Army (when Nathan was Naomi's age, as a matter of fact) so I am quite familiar with military life.

I still don't like it...of course I'm worried about all of the what-ifs. I doubt anyone would argue with the statement that military life can be rough and that it is hard being away from your spouse, especially with small children. However I do support my husband's choice and we will do what we always do....make the best out of the situation at hand.

He is sworn in and leaves for Basic on July 9th so right now we are just trying to cherish this last week we have together for the year! If everything goes as planned, we will be reunited at our first duty station sometime around Christmas. Because David chose to go Airborne, our first duty station will either be in North Carolina, Alaska, or Vicenza, Italy. I have actually been to two of those places (not Alaska) and would be fine with whatever. Overseas would be exciting of course, but being stateside means more time with Nathan...so I guess we'll just see what happens!

During this 5 months that I am staying with my sister, our kids get to play and grow up together...and they are already having a blast (she has a 4 month old, a 4 year old and a 5 year old). I am enjoying the time with my family and the support that only your family can give during an uncertain time like this!

I know he is happy to be providing stable employment for our family, the kind where you don't get laid off at the most inopportune times. He also qualified for the largest signing bonus the Army gives out so there's no doubt that will come in handy. I'd rather have my spouse here than to have money, but a spouse's company and love doesn't diaper the kids so that's life!

Well I suppose that is the end of my update...thanks for reading! I hope to be around here a little more now that things have calmed down

Oh Sweetie! You have been through so much! I know how horrible life can be sometimes. :( I really hope that things settle down for you soon. {{hugs}}

Wow, that's what I call having a lot on your plate! (((((hugs))))) and hope that everything will go fine!

(((Lena))) Welcome back and wow what a trying time for you and your family. I hope all ends up well for you and you can enjoy the time with your family and know your DH is doing a great thing for his family and country

First of all, ((big hugs))!! I am glad you are feeling better from the birth and medical things!

I can totally understand you on the job front. My hubby was laid off from his job around last Christmas and was only able to get into a very low paying job. We had discussed the military many times (we both are Army brats), and had talked to a recruiter. We still haven't taken that jump since my hubby did get a better paying job (which is 5 hours north of us and a whole other bunch of issues) so that is now on the back burner.

I wish you and your family the best of luck. I honestly enjoyed growing up as an Army brat, and wouldn't change it for the world.

Wow Lena! You've been through a lot, but it sounds like all the decisions you've made are what's best for your family at this time!

WOW, you sure have had ALOT going on. I know how hard military life can be, I was a Marine myself, and am now married to one. However, he will be going a great thing for his country and there is definitely no worrying about not having a job. It can be hard when they are away, but as long as you have your support group aka family and friends, you can pretty much get through anything.

I wish you all the best!!

Lena, you have a great attitude towards all these changes - God bless you and your family, and thank you for sharing with us! It must be rough! You have had SOOO much stress in your life. I hope you feel free to vent here with us when you need to!

Wow you have been through alot lately Lena.. Hope everything goes how you want it and its great to have you back!

Wow!! A lot has happened! As an ex-military wife, i too know that its hard when your soldier is away, but your're right; love and companionship doesn't put food on the table, lol. Good Luck!!

Big ((hugs)) Lena! Sounds like you have a great positive attitude about it all, which will make it lots easier. Good Luck!!

Hugs Lena, I'm in the Air Force and I know how hard military life can be, as a matter of fact, I'm getting out next year, but I just want to send p&pts your way.

And if you come to Alaska, I'm assuming Fort Richardson? I'm at Elmendorf the bases are connected, so if you need anything, let me know. :)

Wow- that's a lot of tough breaks. I hope everything works out for the best. Keep us posted on DH and give those kids a kiss! We'll be thinking of you!

It is good to hear an update. It sounds like you have a plan now, and that is what is most important ... when I was struggling without a plan, that was the hardest time in my life. I wish you and your family the best of luck ... after all you've been through you certainly deserve it!

Hugs!

Aww, hugs Lena!!! Glad to have you back and in good health again! I can't imagine how stressfull the last few months have been for you! Your DH is a wonderful man, standing up and serving our wonderful Country while taking care of your family at the same time! KUDOS to him!!! Keep your chin up! It will get easier!

Holy cow, girl! When do you find time to breathe??
That's so much on one girls' plate. Please please please take a few moments every day just to sit in quiet and breathe. You need to be good to you, too, right now. Welcome back!

WOW! What a lot to take on for you lately Lena! Best of luck with everything enjoy your family time and thank you to your DH for his service!

Wow Lena, that is a ton of stuff to all have going on at once!! I'm glad you have your wonderful family to help support you in this rough time.

Many thanks to you husband for the service he is doing for this wonderful country of ours.

Oh Lena you have so much on your plate sweety, I hope that things are smooth for you, lord knows you deserve a nice break. Big huge hugs!!

Wow Lena that is a lot to be dealing with, but it sounds like things are working out for the best. Definitely take time to enjoy this last week with DH before he heads off for training! Glad you are back though!

I'm glad things are more or less, less chaotic for you now! Great job stickin tough through whatever! I'm at Wainwright which is in Alaska! :) I'm pretty military stupid as far as living on base and whatnot but I know all about living the military life as I'm an army wife myself, and will be for at least until '11. Hubby at the moment is in it to win it. (Lifer) I can tell you one thing, Alaska's the first base that we've truly loved enough that when/if he deploys I'll be staying here. It's beautiful and just...it feels like home. I hope you get a chance to go to either one of these bases! But then again, you mentioned, this isn't your first round in mil life.

I know it will all work out for the good...ever since I was on your CT, I always try to see what you are up to..I miss the behind the scenes chatting, but so glad that things are going to be OK for you...I know that was a very hard decision, but alot of the things the military offers, you just can't get in the civilian world for the same price..free medical, very low deductibles for dental, housing, housing allowances, job security,etc....I only say these things 'cause I know 1st hand after spending the last 17.5 years in the Navy, that if it wasn't for the Navy I probably wouldn't have a 4 bdr house over my head and a job that I can use {laboratory technician} in the civilian world when I do retire from the Navy...so keep your head up and if you ever need to chat, just PM me....and BRAVO to all of you in making a decision based on what's best for Nathan, I'm sure that was very hard on you and I hope it will all work out where he is back with you soon...{{{HUGS}}}

Oh Lena, honey, so sorry your family has been thru so much, glad to see you back here, hope things go smoother for you now. Big hugs to you and your fam!

Welcome back Lena and many ((hugs))! It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, but I'm so impressed by your positive attitude. Wishing you and your family all the best during this transition!
