I feel sooooo stupid

I am trying to back up my kits on disks and it won't work. I miss floppys!

It says it was corrupted or needed to be formatted? I didn't even know that cd's needing formatting!!!!

I'm so frustrated!
 
I format CDs, DVDs and even floppies when I used them, before adding data to them. Mine tells me to do it every time I load a blank DVD into my drive on the laptop, or into the CD drive on the desktop. Not sure how to do it otherwise, but I am sure someone else can help you better than I can.
 
LOL, I can't even find where to do it! It took me 30 minutes after I put the disk back in to even be able to get back here b/c it froze everything up. Now I'm scared to try to open it to attempt a format.
 
If you use Windows, go into the Start menu, click on My Computer. Then right click on your CD drive and there should be an option in the menu for formatting the disc in there.

Hmmm, I don't have to format, but every once in a while I will get a disk that doesn't work. Have you tried another blank one to see if you still get that error message? I would be completely frustrated too!

I'm with you. I don't know what kind of discs to buy or anyting. I'm screwed if my puter crashes.
 
That's why I'm worried! I've already gone through a crash this year. My aunt passed in April and right after things started to settle, my computer crashed. :( I felt so helpless. I don't want to go through that again. I thought the disks would be a little help until I can get an external.

My DVD burner isn't working- as it is this laptop broke so it's hooked up to a desktop monitor until I save up enough $ to get a new laptop. Sad isn't it! Those burners stink!
 
OMG just remember to check the discs (if you ever get them burned) on a DIFFERENT computer.

I burned off all of our pics on one of our older puters, now dead, and didn't really check them. I deleted all the pics off of the computer. The other day, years later, I go to put them onto my EHD as it's backing up to Mozy, lo and behold, there are 2-3 discs where I can't SEE the pics! I could cry and cry. But there is nothing I can do.
