Flash Drive?

I need to free up some room on my computer, I was wondering if anyone used a flash drive to store kits on and if so what size do you use? I hope this makes since...

Most people use External Hard Drives (EHD's) to store stuff on. It's a much more stable option than a flash drive. I use my flash drive to transport stuff (like from work to home and vice cersa). But I wouldn't trust it for more than that.

Buy.com had a sale going recently, and they usually have good prices.
Check amazon, circuit city, staples. A lot of ppl have gotten deals at Costco too.

I use mine for portability as well...I actually organize my elements and things on it, but I have them backed up elsewhere...I have folders with each element, like Ribbon, Buttons, etc...and ones I plan to use over and over I put on the flash.
I basically have it as a temporary drive instead of keeping all of that on my harddrive...if that makes sense...but definitely not anything permanent...like Col said...an external is your best bet for that kinda thing ;)

A lot of ppl use Western Digital. I've had several people recommend Maxtor One Touch (which is a part of Seagate I believe, who is also good). I had no idea who was good when I bought mine 2.5 years ago and mine's an Iomega. No troubles yet, knock on wood.

I'd stick with Wester Digital, Maxtor One Touch, or Seagate, personally.

You will hear horror stories from every brand out there, where the hard drive fails and the person loses everything. So, the one advice I have is to have everything in at least 2 places. Like on an external hard drive and ALSO on CD or DVD. Save yourself a lot of heartache and get into the practice now. (Do I sound like I've had a huge cry about losing everything? Yep. :( )

Yes yes yes! Make sure you either sign up for an online service (like Mozy) or burn yourself copies of everything to DVD (more space than cd's). EHD's can unexpectedly die like Julie said, regardless of the model or manufacturer. They aren't meant to be permanent storage solutions really. They'll die after a few years. CD's and DVD's also corrupt over time, but it's best to double back up everything.
