This is something totally new for us. DS is 3 and before the past month or so, never minded one bit if I left him with my parents or anyone else really. He never meets a stranger and is not shy at all, but recently, he won't let me out of his sight and it is driving me bananas!! If I'm not IN the room with him at all times he whines and cries until I am. He used to play upstairs in his room for long periods by himself perfectly content and now he will not even go up there without me. I guess it has to do with DH leaving and all that, but I'm going nuts without 5 minutes to myself all day long. No point really to this just venting I guess :glare:

Awww I'm sorry Nikki!
Landen is the same way...This is how I put it to anyone who will listen-He is up my butt all day long-I can't even go to the bathroom in private, and God forbid I don't let him flush the toilet when I am done-SERIOUS-he gets so mad at me. He stands outside the shower when I'm bathing-UP MY BUTT all day.
Most of the time it drives me crazy, but I also have the older boys who are a constant reminder that I should enjoy this time because soon enough he will be just like them-off and running with his own life.

I'm with you, girls. :)
Going to bathroom in private is like a vacation for me now... :) DD is 1,5.

With my friends we keep saying "that's just a period of time"... :)

Shannon, you've written it so perfectly about enjoying this time...

Same here...Rae is 3.5. I have to kick her out of the kitchen when I'm cooking, because she's so underfoot.

It must be the age, not that it makes it any easier.

I feel for ya....I have twins that do the same thing  They will start school this Fall so that will be interesting for us all, can't imagine getting them out of the house and on a bus without tears but Shannon is right, they will grow out of it and be out of your hair...eventually!!! My 14 & 11 yr old are out of the house all day, they only come home for food and to poop or something, it is so very sad :(

Oh, honey. Thats so frustrating. All kids go through a phase like that, some for longer than others. I'm sure that your DH leaving has a LOT to do with it. In his 3-year-old mind, Daddy went out of sight and hasn't come back yet. Thats probably why he cries when you go out of the room. To him, if he can't see you, you're gone.
Just give him lots of reassurance and extra cuddles (easier said than done, I know) and this will pass like all the other phases.

I don't remember the last time I went to the restroom alone...even the dog barges in now...

I'm sure it does have to do with Dh being deployed..sometimes I wish I knew how kids thought

Good luck!

Awww, big hugs Nikki! I know how frustrating that is because Jack was like that the entire first EIGHTEEN MONTHS of his life. Now he's 3, and he still likes to double check my location at random times, but he can be in a separate room. Though do NOT try to make him leave the house with anyone else; that ain't happening.

My 6 yo is like that............ I finally had to lock him out of the bathroom when I'm in there and then he just sits outside of the door and whines.... He is very much a momma's boy... But, one day he won't do that anymore and I'll miss it.

Hope you get a much deserved break soon sweety! I can relate with Noah. He is wicked attached and actually wakes up at night if im not in bed with him. Hes FINALLY sleeping now and I should be too but I just cant give up the little bit of "me" time that im getting. Hugs!
