I got sucked in by the Twilight junkies. I got the second book last night and finished it a couple of hours ago. So I'm on the last book now, and I'll have my life back in about 24 hours.
It's terrible, it really is... it's the worst. And I can't stop reading it, I can't figure it out, why I can't put it down. It's like reading a 15 year old girl's diary. yargh. I think my tolerance stems from the fact that I think this kind of idealism is "cute".
On the plus side, it's made me so mad I've dusted off my own three novels that I shelved a couple of years ago because I got 5 rejection letters and gave up. Screw that, if she can do it with this witless tripe, so can I!!! :p

i am totally resisting reading those books. I find the whole vampire idea very creepy. I think I tried to read one but couldn't get past the 1st sentence.
(watch though, in a month I'll be posting that I'm totally addicted :p)
dang, wow, you've written 3 novels? impressive! I wanted to be a writer. But I couldn't actually write anything . . . so that kinda killed it for me.
So, wanna tells us what your novels are about? Do they make up a trilogy?

I haven't gone near these books either! I have a highly addicting behavior (scrapping, SSD, Diet Dr. Pepper, Mocha Frappucino's, Facebook, etc...) so I know I will be hooked! LOL!!

My books are a trilogy! It's about Clio, the muse of History and her sister Calliope, in modern LA where Calliope has attached herself to a brilliant rockstar, who is dying and finds a way to steal Calliope's immortality from her and sends Clio on a journey to the Underworld with her mortal family she thought she had lost, two of her muse sisters, and the very surly Mr. Sexy Pants, Ares, the God of War. <3
She has to get her sister back by bargaining with Hades and the real bad guy, his completely insane wife, Persephone.
That's the first book.
It wasn't Young Adult the first time I wrote it, I'm rewriting it a bit to make it YA now.
It's a bunch of silliness, but I have my own bizarre little fanbase out there, and I haven't even been published yet! So, I'm hoping this third rewrite is the charm to sell it this year. (Besides... it's "my" year, Year of the Rat, so I'd be insane not to try, right??)
Lol, okay, now you guys can giggle and point at me.

I read Interview with the Vampire a few years ago just to see what the hype was all about and I HATED it. I swore I'd never read another creepy, brutal, graphic, gory vampire book again (LOL, I really, really hated it). But, I was assured the Trilogy books weren't like that, and they aren't. It's really just a love story -- sort of the unattainable love kinda thing. IMHO, they are total "fluff" reading -- but totally addictive.

Have you ever done NaNoWriMo, Bryn?
Although I have lots of half-completed manuscripts lying around, I think the only one I've ever finished was one where I pretended that I never left my first job at Steak 'n' Shake when I was 16 and instead got sucked into the cigarette-smoking partying drop out culture there. It was fun to write, but definitely smacks of being written by a 19yo author, kwim?

Yeah, I've done NaNoWriMo, I don't like the pressure of finishing under a 30 day deadline like that, I can whip out a 500 page manuscript in 7 months, but 30 days will just produce crap from me. Plus it's the month before xmas, so that just sucks. >.<

*hands up*....me too. Just not interested. I don't read much any more anyway, it's the first thing that gets pushed to the back burner around here.

I don't mind vampires. I liked some of the Anne Rice vampire books, but Twilight failed to catch my interest by page 100 and I have too many things waiting to be read to continue with a book I'm not interested it. I think they make me feel old :D
I'm not saying I'll never read the series. A few years ago I couldn't get into Janet Evanovitch's series and just last month I spend 2 solid weeks absorbed in reading every single one.
