How do I make the preview the thumbnail?

So, I'm still trying to organize everything and I know that if you name a kit preview "folder", it's supposed to show as the thumbnail. That works for kits who's designers already had a "folder" preview in there... but for the ones where I've renamed the preview to "folder" it doesn't. The image won't change from what it was originally. I've tried refreshing and stuff... am I missing something?

I usually right click on the folder and select 'refresh thumbnail' and it does the trick. Also double check to make sure the preview image is a .jpg. Once I couldn't get one to work because the preview was a .png.

in what application? if it's just windows, you just right click the folder, click on "properties", then click the "customize" tab, and "choose picture"

if it's for ACDSee, i've been looking for this answer for weeks, so I hope someone knows.

haha i've been c/p the folder again then deleting the original one..wish I knew the shorter way before hand hah

I have Vista and that hasn't happened to me too often. Usually it fixes itself. The last time it happened I changed the name from folder.jpg to FOLDER.jpg and it corrected itself. Why I don't know :D

I never knew that the "folder" was what determined the preview! So, how's that!? LOL!!! Neat trick ... will have to try. I hope you can figure it out!

So strange, I didn't have a "refresh thumbnail" option, so I tried the Properties>Customize thing and played with the "icon" options. I changed it to something which wasn't right, so when I reset it to the default, the thumbnail was correct. Kindof a long, annoying way to get to what I want, but at least it's right now. ROFL

Bryn, in ACDSee I have to rename the file and add a _, 0, or 1 in front, then preview shows up as a thumbnail on the folder... but I'm really hoping there is an easier way!

BTW, I have Vista. Thanks for the tip in ACDSee Nettie... I'm getting ready to learn how to use that. BTW, I LOVE your avie!
