I miss caffeine!!!

I had to completely cut out caffeine with this pregnancy b/c I have a rapid heart rate and get palpitations if I drink 1 drop of caffeine. My resting rate right now is between 100-110. With DS resting got up to 140 right before I had him...so I hope it doesn't get that bad this time...anyway, I am a major coffee addict - 2-3 cups a day and that doesn't count my diet mt dew addiction. I've been okay so far but all of a sudden I am CRAVING coffee. I tried to fool myself with a cup of hot cocoa this morning but it's just not the same :(

Are you allowed to have decaf, or does that still have too much residual caffeine? I switched to it when I was pregnant, but it sure isn't the same!

what about coffee-flavored something (um, like ice cream? :D) is that still too caffeinated. or a coffee flavored candy like coffee nips? actually that might make me want coffee more . . . so nm.

i don't know if I could give up coffee . . .

poop!!! that really sucks!!! go get some of these...they are sooo tasty (really yummy coffee flavor), chocolatey and crunchy...they just might help with that craving!

son of a gun. i just read the label and they have a tiny bit of coffee iin them. damnit.

mmm those look good though!

Nikki , Hershey's makes a cocoa called Goodnight Kisses that doesn't even have the insignificant amount of caffeine in it from the chocolate. Maybe you could add a flavored syrup to that? Fooling the tastebuds is hard.

Aww I hope that you find something to substitute babe! Your incredible though for being so good about it! Big hugs!

ME TOO! Luckily I don't have to give it up entirely when I'm pregnant, but I only have caffeinated coffee once a week. I'm sitting here dreaming of a cup while I try to stay awake and take care of my 2 cranky kids...

I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but giving up my daily crack... I mean coke... has been difficult. I seriously love that stuff. Can't wait for this kiddo to make her appearance so I can have some!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions...but I don't think anything can take the place kwim lol...

BTW I have given up caffeinated drinks but I draw the line at chocolate...I just got finished having a chocolate shake after lunch lol :)

I've been drinking caffeine free coke..it's okay, but if you're a real caffeine addict you can tell the difference lol

I tried decaf coffee for a few days and it just isn't worth the bother to me lol :)

Ohhh boy I remember that when I was pregnant. I'm addicted to Diet Coke in the worst way and I know exactly what you mean about caffine-free products not being the same. Maybe you can sneak in a very small cup of coffee, sometimes just a few sips helps a lot!

i think i was absent the day everyone else my age started drinking coffee! i just never started! Not that im really complaining, just one less thing to give up i guess! i do feel bad for you tho. If someone told me i had to give up chocolate....well now that just doesnt bare thinking about!

I switched to green tea while I was pregnant, and I still drink it. I just add a little bit of honey and lemon and it's YUMMY!

I think it's amazing that you've cut it out completely!! Good for you!! I get those cravings for a Pepsi and I have to indulge!!! Something about the taste!! Hopefully your resting heart rate doesn't get as high this time!!

It's been really hard to not drink any...and I have once or twice tried a little like if we were out at a resturant or something but it's so weird how my body reacts to it right now..I can literally feel my heart racing and I'll get what feels like my heart skipping a beat and then thumping real hard in my chest. It's crazy b/c usually it has NO effect on me...I mean I can get up in the middle of the night and drink a glass of mt dew and go right back to sleep.
