Jeff's 94yo grandma is remarkably healthy for her age, even lives alone still, but went in Sunday night with some bleeding. After being misdiagnosed 4-5 years ago, they have now discovered she has a polyp in her colon that has caused her off and on bleeding. There is a 50/50 chance it is cancer.
We went to see her last night, and she was in pretty good spirits all things considered, though she had not slept in 36 hours. She is having surgery at 3 pm Eastern where they will cut out some of the polyp, but not all, and are doing so in as non-invasive a way as possible.
Either it will not be cancer and removing that much will cause the bleeding to stop or it will be cancerous, but if she has had it for the last 5 years and not been ill, they will just leave it be considering her age and let Nature take its course.
Jeff's mom, who has been with Grandma at the hospital since this happened and is a retired nurse, feels fairly confident that it will be okay either way, but Jeff says he has a 'bad feeling' abt it all and will likely go back up to the hospital tonight to see her.
If you could just pray that nothing will happen to Grandma during surgery and that she will be able to live out the last few years of her life in peace, cancer or not, I would appreciate it.
