OMG I think I must have an angel...dropped my REBEL

So the boys were outside playing in the water hose looking all cute and I decided to take a few pics. then they wanted me to hook the hose over a tree limb for them so I sat my camera on DH's grill...he was standing there cooking dinner. He TOLD me not to sit it there and I said, oh it'll be okay there for just a second...so I fixed the hose for the kids, went back to grab the camera to take a few more shots and somehow, I still dont' know how...I grabbed the camera but the strap got hung on the little parts of the grill where you hang utensils and it ripped it out of my hand and it crashed on the driveway! CONCRETE driveway. The batteries went flying out of my external flash and the battery door opened on the camera and that battery flew out too. I literally felt bile rising in my throat and was so scared to pick it up. I was like frozen. But I picked it all up, put it back together and miracle of miracles, it's fine. didn't land on the lens, it's not scratched...the little plastic part of the bottom of the flash cracked just a little but not bad enough it won't work and really I don't see a scratch on it anywhere else. Now you tell me, lol I don't think that was luck. I can't BELIEVE it's okay!!!

Oy babe!! I have been there, these things are SO resiliant!! Hugs, I know how stressful that must be!!!

OMGosh!! Reading it it actually made me feel a little sick for you!! I would have been freaking if I dropped my camera and it is not even a SLR!!

OMG Amy.
I would have immediately went into hysterics! Ugh, I don't know how on Earth that thing made it ok, but glad it did.

Oh thank goodness it is okay, Amy!! I would have been absolutely sick too!!!! The camera angels were definitely looking out for your camera today, lol!!

OMGoodness! I cried when I dropped my pink Polaroid, so I can't imagine how bad your heart was racing!!! So, so glad it's ok!

Isn't that the worse feeling! So glad your camera's ok Amy! A couple of years ago we were putting up the outdoor Christmas lights and I put my camera on the top of the 6 foot ladder really quick so I could help DH do something. A few minutes later DH went to move the ladder and my camera went crashing down 6 feet onto the concrete driveway. I literally just about threw up! In the end it was all ok other than a crack in the bottom of the case which is my constant reminder to be more careful!

well not QUITE as lucky as I thought...seems my speedlite flash is having trouble keeping connection in the hotshoe now. I called Canon and they said that even though I am technically ..get this..FOUR DAYS..past the warranty period, send it in and they will fix. So the angels are still workin, lol

Oh, wow! Thank goodness its ok. I left mine outside all night one night. Thank goodness it didn't get stolen or it didn't rain.

phew!! my heart went into my throat FOR you! I'm glad you are able to get your flash issue fixed. .. how long will you have to be without it??

they said that once they get it, 7-10 business days. that's not too terribly bad. I survived for years without an external flash I guess I can do it again, lol

my that is one scary moment for you! :) Glad all is okay and Canon is taking care of the flash too! Good customer relations to do it after warranty!
