I am a bad mommy today...

OK well my daughter (she is 16) has been volunteering all week at school stuffing folders for their open house tomorrow. So I get a call from the principal and he is all serious and he goes into this explanation about how she was stuffing the folders and then tells me she got a paper cut. Then he says do you want to talk to her? So I tell him yea sure but at this point I couldnt hold in my laughter...cause I mean come on its a paper cut LOL. Sooo I guess Im a bad mommy today. Im just thinking to myself wow if she thinks a paper cut hurts I cant wait to see what she does when she wants to start a family and gives birth to her first child (you know like 15 years from now LOL) :p
 
Oh she was mad at me for laughing. She said its not funny and it hurt and said I was being mean :crying:

Now she has hurt herself at school before and I felt bad for her and you know I was serious about it but I get paper cuts alot and sure they burn for a second or two but they are gone in a day or two maybe three and I totally forget about it. She was seriously acting like it was to the bone or something. Then she says but mom its not a paper cut. So I say did you cut yourself with paper? She says yes and I say well then it is a paper cut Crystal. After I got over the laughing I told her to make sure to wash it off really good then put a bandaid on it and told her I loved her and siad goodbye
 
Yep sure did...maybe a liability thing? I dont know it just struck me as funny because he was being soooo serious and then when Im like OMGosh what happened he says well she got a paper cut. It was all I could not to laugh when he told me that

I know I would have laughed, and so and my mom would have too. That's an awesome story! It makes me smile just thinking about the seriousness of her injury.
 
You know it would not have been quite so bad if the principal hadnt been SOOO serious over it. I always hate those phone calls and they offer this explanation beforehand then to hear this well it was like a relief that it was JUST a paper cut. (especially since last year my son fell at school and broke both his arms)
 
I would have laughed too. :D

On the other hand, paper cuts really do hurt! Probably not quite as much as breaking both arms though!
 
I was laughing just reading your story, I can imagine being on the other end of the phone line. Too comical! Can't blame the school though for covering their you-know-whats. I'm sure someone has sued over a paper cut before. LOL
 
I would've done the same! I cracked up when DD2 was spinning and fell down in ballet class, and so did the mom next to me, then she apologized saying she didn't mean to. LOL No harm done...she falls all the time at home, must be the carpet tripping her. :p
 
I prolly would have been annoyed that they got me all worried for a paper cut. Glad it wasn't anything serious.
 
LOL That will be a cute story 15 years from now! That totally reminds me of something my own sister would do!
 
My daughter is 9 and goes to the school nurse so often for random things that this is the phone call I get now:

"Lauren was in the clinic today complaining of _____. I sent her back to her class, but I'm required to call and let you know."

LOL
 
Laughing along with you. The first call I got from the vice principal (who was a total newbie) she was so serious I thought my daughter was going to be expelled or something. Turns out she kissed someone on the bus (she was 6). I laughed when she told me because I was so relieved that is all it was. I told her no offense but I hope this is the worst thing I ever get a call about from the school!
 
Oh gosh my daughter was chasing two boys on the playground one year with another girl...it was back and forth and the mom of one of the boys complained and they all got phone calls to their parents about how that is sexual harassment. Whatever...they were all playing the game and nobody was getting hurt.

Im pretty sure because he would have said it needed to be checked by a doctor or told me I needed to come pick her up. She wasnt crying or anything and she was *kinda* laughing with me. I think she was more annoyed that I was laughing at her then anything. She stayed and finished up her community service hours so I think everything is ok
