We went in for Jeff's follow up appointment this morning, and... yikes. The bone scan he had yesterday showed 'very abnormal activity' and was 'impressive' (in a bad way), so the dr immediately got Jeff settled in with an aircast and a scrip for crutches.
He's also sending us back to the hospital next week for a CAT scan of his leg which should pinpoint precisely what and where it's broken. He confirmed there is definitely a hairline fracture, but he is concerned there is more damage like a crack in the bone.
Jeff is struggling with trusting the doctor as in his mind, evidently, pain = injury, so since he isn't in pain much or consistently, he can't accept that he has a severe injury. I am trying to brainwash him into taking the dr at his word and using the crutches as much as possible, but so far, he has not used them at all in his apt because it's 'inconvenient.'
I am trying to be helpful, but since we do not live together and I can't spend the night when his son is there, as he is this weekend, we are doing the best we can. Hopefully, he will adjust and get used to the idea of being incapacitated for awhile by the end of the weekend.
The doctor didn't want to promise anything, but he did say there is a good possibility that Jeff could heal from this without surgery, CAT scan results withstanding, so we are praying that can be the case.
