Michael Phelps...

well he's only swimming for 8 so no he didn't get 10 lol

He did get his 7th though :) Tied Mark Spitz and goes for the record on Sunday for #8!!

The silver medalist I just heard is filing a complaint though on the ending...it's an electronic touchpad though that determines the time so not sure how he can justify that..shrug

It WAS close though...he won with 0.01 of a second

no.. 10 overall.. including the previously won ones before this year. that was what they kept talking about the other day. He'll have the highest # of lifetime gold or something or other.

A-MA-ZING! And such grace! And the funny part is that the coach filing the complaint is the new swimming coach where Michael attends - not a smart move in endearing himself to his new team!

well Michael is leaving that program at Michigan along with his coach :) Michael and his coach are moving back to Baltimore where he's taking over the program back there but yah..the gall! lol

Michael Phelps is such an amazing athlete! I'm so proud of him! LOL Like I had anything to do with it, but still!

I totally feel the same way!! When I see the look on his mom's face when she watches him - I just get it!! Everytime they show her and his sisters, I always end up crying!! Maybe it's the hormones - who knows!!

All I can say is WOW! What an amazing race! I can't get over how incredibly close it was!! Michael Phelps is just totally awesome!

And well all can thank his mom. Story goes that she put him in swimming lessons as a kid to burn off some extra energy! Wow!
I'm actually watching a bit of the Olympics now. I think the Michael Phelps craze got me into it.

Nope, not hormones! Just a Mom recognizing what it would be like to have your child do such amazing things! I thought his Mom fainted when she realized he'd won the gold. What an awe-inspiring moment!

Chiming in a bit late ( or early) but I just have to say that he is A M A Z I N G. Having been a swimmer for 10 years I know what it takes to be great ( I was FAR from that but I know how hard you have to work) and he is just the best of the best. He does not have the "big head" syndrome that a lot of athletes have and I really like that about him.

We were actually at a local watering hole and the DJ was about to start playing his music (after my beloved Cubbies WON!!!) and I told him to NOT play until Michael swam and he complied so we got to see and hear it. The whole bar was cheering him on and went crazy after the race, it was really cool!!!!!

That's another thing I love - how everyone can just pull together and all root for the same person during the Olympics!! I haven't met anyone yet that doesn't just totally love and root for Michael Phelps!!
