netflix question..

lauren grier

you're like stars
ok.. so I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to jump on the netflix wagon.. we don't watch a lot of tv, but it'd be nice to have some flicks I can watch with connor, or after connor is asleep etc. There are a billion movies that I've "missed out" on seeing.. and you know, things I'd love to see again :D :D (ahem leo.. repeatedly).. So.. I dunno. I can try it out for a while right? LOL I just hate spending money hahaha..

so my questions..
So if you get the.. 3 or 2 at a time thing. Can I watch one, mail it.. keep the other one(s).. and get another one? Or do you have to send all 2-3 at once?

How long does it usually take to get a new flick? I know it says "sent in the next buisness day after they receive it from YOU" .. but how long does that usually take? (I know it will vary dependent on how far you have to mail it etc) but I mean is it.. a week in btwn movies, or a few days? That would prolly be a big deciding factor on what plan I do.

Um.. what was my other question. LMAO..

Oh how does the list thing I keep hearing people talk about work? Like... I would want to get a good mix btwn ce flicks and mommy flicks--and wouldn't want to be stuck with 3 gay kid movies at once or 3 totally not appropriate for ce movies either.. kwim? Is there an easy way to organize what I get when?

and anything else you have to say.. :D

You can keep one and send the rest back, vice versa, etc... They don't care how long you keep it. Just as long as they get their money every month LOL

3 day turn around usually. Mail it in on Mon I'll have a new one by Thursday. Weekends a little longer

You'll have a que thingamajigger. All it is, a list. Just do Ce movie, La movie. etc :) and you won't get stuck with all cartoons

It's awesome at first. Then after about two months you get slack and they sit on the t.v. for weeks LOL. I still think it's worth it, especially if you don't get out and see a lot of new movies. We almost always wait for DVD. Too expensive to go to the theatre all the time.

thanks babe :) LOL yeh.. I'm worried I'll get bored with it after a couple of months hahah I can always cancel it I guess.

We've had it for several months now and love it! We do the 3 at a time for $16.99 plus tax each month. I think you can do a free 2 week trial to see how you like it also.

We just have one queue setup with all the movies in it that we want to see (I think we have like 56 movies in there now lol plus another 25 movies in the saved part of our queue that aren't actually out on DVD yet). When we send one back we move whatever we want it to send out next to the top spot. You can also set up two separate queue's (one for you & one for Ce) and then specify how you want it to choose movies, like one from his & 2 from yours etc. But we've just never done it that way, we get way more movies for us than we do for the kids.

Also we get our movies very quickly, we have a distribution center local to our area though. Like if I sent one back on Monday, they'd have it on Tuesday & send the next one out that same day & we'd have it Wednesday.

You can also put your account on hold at anytime, and specify when you want it to be taken off hold status and start sending movies again. We've done that for a week or two before when we knew we wouldn't have time to watch any movies.

I have it and i love it!

I get mine pretty fast as we have a distribution center local to our area, i get the movies within 2 days

I just got on Netflix a few months ago and we are LOVING it! We are on the 3 at a time plan, but I'm thinking of going down to the 2 at a time plan because our shipping is so fast and I never sit down to watch 3 movies in a single weekend. If I put the movie in the mailbox on a Monday, I have a new one in my mailbox on Wednesday. It's fabulous! Like the others said you set up your Que and tell them which order you want the movies in. I switch it all the time because it depends on what I'm in the mood for. They also have lots of TV shows on DVD... like Myth Busters :) I don't get a whole lot of shows for Logan, so I'm not sure how the kids selection is. But Jacob, Tom and I find lots of stuff to watch! Right now the guys are on a big kick of those movie series-- like Star Wars, X-Men, Fantastic Four... but I sneak in a movie like Enchanted here and there. LOL

I've been doing Blockbuster online and I really like that- it works the same as Netflix but you can return them to the store if you want and get a movie if there is something else you don't have you are dying to see. They also take paypal- big yay from me! Anyway, thats my two cents.

We have been with Netflix since the very start and love it.

Your turn around time depends on how close you live to a distribution center. I send a movie back one day...get an email confirmation saying they received it either the next morning or even sometimes that same day. They ship a new one the next and I receive it the next. So about a 2 day turnaround.

I love it for watching TV series and DS movies. You can arrange your queue to receive one grown up one kiddy show etc.

I've only had about 2 instances in the past 4 years that we've had to send a disc back damaged and they send you a replacment even before they get the damaged disc back. One time I even accidentally sent one of personal Wiggle DVD's instead of the one from netflix back and they sent me an email letting me know and returned our DVD within 2 days. (yes it was tired mommy brain to blame on that one lol) So ...great customer service and I love that you can put your acct on hold for up to 3 months...I've done this several times and it's convenient.

I finally JUST talked my parents into trying it and after a couple of weeks of renting 1 at a time my dad has already upgraded to the 3 at a time lol.

i have to say I do think the Netflix concept is genius.

but like someone mentioned you are all gung ho in the beginning and then in a few months the novelty wears off :D but I do love the convenience.

I'm on the 3 disc a month plan. I usually try to arrange my queue so we get a mix of kid and adult. Whether it is 2 or 1 kid DVDs depends on my mood toward kids :p.

if you decide to sign up, you should think about doing it through ebates. You will get $18 back at some point (you can have your ebate rebates put into your paypal account.)

(i have shamelss referral ink you if are interested)

I've been with Netflix since before they went public, and I absolutely adore it. You can have multiple queues and assign how many you want at a time per queue... like DH has a queue that takes up 1 of our 3 and the other 2 come out of my queue... so you can separate yours and Ce's like that.

We have the Blockbuster one, I like it better because if you return them at the store they give you a free rental. So if we get a wild hair and watch all 3 of our movies in one night, we can get 3 freebies the next day while we wait for them to mail our next 3.

We have Blockbuster Online also. Love that we can use the mailed movies like coupons at the store down the street. We have the 3 at a time and you actually could have 6 movies at the same time - 3 from the store you got free with your turned in movies, then 3 you get in the mail...which come really quick.

We also get a coupon for a free video game each month (that's $8). And now the returned mailed movies can be used as a coupon for a video game too.
