What do you do for a living?

Just curious since I always find myself not able to keep up with everyone while at work and nights are crazy with 3 kids. Weekends are my only time to scrap.

So what do you do for a living?

I am in marketing. I plan, design and execute direct mail, email, pay per click, (etc) campaigns for 3 online services.

Thanks in advace to settling my curiosity!

WELL..... For the past almost-seven years, I have a been a full-time stay-at-home-mom. I also did a bit of childcare on the side, but nothing major. Just one or sometimes two kids at a time.
BUT.... as of today, I am going to work for the first time!! I got a job at a local elementary school as their health and office aide. Its only 5 1/2 hours a day, which is perfect since I will still be able to drop off and pick up my oldest son from 1st grade (my toddler will be with my retired parents).
So, thats what I'll be up to for the next nine months!!

I work full time for a large auto insurer. I'm the Physical Damage Process Manager for two states. I oversee all elements of property damage -- training, salvage, total loss, estimatics, customer service, body shop relations, blah, blah, blah. I basically spend a lot of time doing quality assurance activities, attending meetings and facilitating conference calls and net meetings .... working with spreadsheets until my eyes are crossed, lol. I've been with the same company for 11 years and worked my way up the totem pole :)

Fun thread!

I'm a full time scrapper :) lol

Just kidding, but I do scrap A LOT

I was a teacher..taught 5th grade for 3 yrs, 7th/8th grade for 1 year and 3rd grade for one...then I got married and retired lol. I'm now a SAHM.

I am a SAHM during the week, and I work at McD's on the weekends. DH figures when both kids are in school (next year), that I'll be going back to work full-time...but I've got news for him. ;)

I taught 7th grade special education for 5 years. I quit at the end of last school year and am now an insurance agent for a large insurer... aka... the good hands people... LOL

I'm a scrapbooker too. no kidding, I really call it my job. I actually do get paid as the Digital Coordinator for A Cherry On Top, to take care of the designers, site advertising, coordinating digital events and so on. My work is my passion.

i am an admin assistant 30 hours a week for my dads stock brokerage firm. i went to school for medical assisting and have started my preeq's for the nursing program, just don't have the patience. :)

I'm not sure what to call it, but I don't work and i can't be accused of actually keeping house, lol. I'm a stay at home whatever :P

I work mornings as an office secretary, 9am til noon most days, occasionally until 1pm. During the school year, I will now have three kids in school full days, and one home with me still. My husband goes to work about an hour or two after I finish work, so I have my nights (once the kids are in bed or occupied) to scrap.

I'm a psychology professor at one of our state universities here. Today was my first day back at work, and classes start next week.

My heavy scrapping days are over until next spring. With a demanding job, a house to take care of, and 2 little girls, I'll have just enough time to get my CT scrapping done and that's it. I'm going to miss my sweet rewards. :(

well depends on who you ask...ask my kids and I watch tv all day LOL (they apparently think the house fairies come and clean the house and wash clothes and put them up etc) but I have been a SAHM since I had children. I have had a couple kids off and on that I would babysit but I was always the one who the parents would say can I pay you next week and next week never came and I just wouldnt say anything until it was to late. I am considering some different options now such as going back to school or trying to start my own business. My sisters daughter does pageants and she has been trying to get me to start doing layouts for the other moms for a small fee. Not sure that is something I really wanna get into though,.

I was Editor in Chief of an enterteinment magazine BC (before children)
Then I was full time scrapper for a year and a half... (I gues mommy too... LOL)
Right now, dh and I own and Import/export business and I do the administrative portion and costumer service part.

I'm a SAHM now, but I worked in public health (health education and some government work, mostly) before having kids. My kids are still young and asleep by 8, so evenings are my time and that's usually when I do my scrapping and surfing.

Right now I am looking for a night job....but i will be starting school next week for an education degree!!!

This is a loaded question. :)

Since May 30th, I've been a professional scrapper & GF as I look for FT work. :p

However, my most recent job was as a copy clerk with a dash of proofreading and editing for the state of Indiana's Legislative Services Agency. Every piece of legislation that was discussed, voted on, or even looked at during the last legislative session passed through my hands at least once as I copied, assembled, and delivered the bill packets to various congressmen and attorneys in the Capitol building.

I've also worked as a CSR for a high risk automobile finance company where I spent 75-80% of my day on the phone verifying employment, landlord, and personal reference information to finalize deals for a five state area as well as a test evaluator for state-mandated student achievement tests grades 2-10.

I have an interview Wed am for an Education Finance Communications Associate for an international banking corporation where I'd be creating and tweaking loan package and other financial aid communications for colleges and universities across the U.S., so wish me luck in adding another completely different job to my resume! *lol*

I'm a SAHM.

I have a degree in Sociology and Anthropolgy which I looooved studying and value so much, but which also is not the most practical degree in the world and so I likely will never use it.

I'm a SAHM! I spend way too much time scrapping and hanging out in the forum! :)

I also just started designing templates and my "store" opens Wednesday! Hopefully I will make enough to support my SSD addiction!

I work FT at a biotech company, I do a bit of project management and quality assurance, making sure the product is OK to release. Blah!

I have a teaching degree, but hope to never have to use it!

Ditto to that! :p

I work part time as office manager/glorified secretary at a local church. I'm done there at noon and spend the rest of my time as a SAHM. Prior to this I owned a small flower/gift shop that just got to be too much after baby #2 arrived on the scene. Life is much more pleasant now.

I work retail on the weekends.. Wont be full time till my daughter is in 1st grade which will be 2010

WOOT! This is fun!

My degree is in civil engineering with a structural engineering discipline, I graduated from Penn State. I work at a good sized consulting firm outside of Baltimore and do Bridge Design, Noise Wall Design, Retaining Wall Design, as well as bridge inspections and other small random jobs, like the parking garage inspection I'll be heading up on my own next week (first job officially by myself! EEK!).

I love my job, but I hope that one day I can be a SAHM. Or at least a WAHM still at this company just working at home :)

I worked as a Legal Assistant for 18 years then became disabled in 2006. So now I just stay at home and once a week or so babysit my darling granddaughter. I'll soon have two to watch, since Levi will be arriving August 26th.

So interesting to read that all!

Before starting my SAHM-career I was administrative assistant & translator and interpreter in an industrial company. I also did some translations for a publishing company (I've MA degree in German and Czech language & literacy), I do some now too but only a few.

Great thread!

I'm a WAHM. I own a custom card business that's been open since 2006. It started out as a hobby and sort of snowballed on me... LOL!
