UGH I need to clean and I have not motivation

Today is my only opportunity this weekend to get the house clean. The kids start school FINALLY on Monday and I want to start with a clean slate with all the laundry done, their rooms clean and organized and the rest of the house clean so I can get my peace of mind back. My house has had a "revolving door" all summer long and the neighborhood kids have been in and out constantly, 3-5 sleepovers a week, you name it and I just can't take the chaos anymore. I am so glad school is about to start. But I can't seem to motivate myself to get up out of this chair, lol. Our church has the base pool reserved for tonight so that's going to be so much fun (even all the adults play and get on the huge 2-story slide, etc) and then tomorrow my sister and I are going to the beach for the day....just the two of us with nothing to do but breathe all day. Then there's sunday and I NEVER want to do anything but veg after church on Sundays between the morning and p.m. services. So when does that leave me to do this monumental cleaning...oh and finishing the school shopping? TODAY. So tell me what are your best tips for keeping yourself going and doing what you NEED to be doing instead of letting yourself get sidetracked and scrap, forums, galleries , etc?

um, gosh, I have no tips. I am constantly sidetracked.

GL!

ps. GET OFF THE COMPUTER!

NOW!

I mean it!

Do you want me to arrange with Robin that you will be kicked of the SugarBabes if you don't finish your cleaning? ;)

Really, the hardest part is just getting started! You could do what the Flylady does, and tell yourself that you'll start with just 15 minutes. Then take a break. I bet you'll go longer than 15 . . .

do what i do...get really really really mad about something and then focus all that raw energy into a full out house cleaning! you can do it.

I would postpone it til monday, because it's FRIDAY!! no one wants to clean on fridays!

Anyway, i'm with Flylady too. it can be hard to start, but once i start, i want to keep going. Clean. break. clean. break. then in the evening, reward yourself with some scrapping time.

Oh man! I hear ya sister....I have sent my DH to work with the internet cord before, but that still doesnt keep you off the computer! Put on some fun music, clean, and to "treat" yourself to a clean house come back and play with us!!!

I hear ya girl. I too want to start school on Monday with a perfectly clean slate... especially since I'm having oral surgery (all 4 wisdom teeth) on Tuesday. Most of my mess is clothes... clothes EVERYWHERE! UGH! I "intend" to work on it tomorrow.

Hopefully you're not going to see my response 'til after you're done cleaning... but good luck.

I really like flylady! The few little things I do everyday make a world of difference. I shine my sink, make my bed, check my laundry, and check my hot spots at least once a day . I also make sure the girls clean up their toys EVERY night! I have one day a week that I clean (some weeks I clean more than others). With this plan, my house rarely gets too far out of control.

Scrapping does impede on this plan, but I always feel better taking time for myself if all of my "chores" are done!

Good Luck!

well so far I have started a load of laundry in the washer, have one going in the dryer, loaded the dishwasher, swept the laundry room and now I'm going back in there. maybe I'll just keep checking in throughout the day...so I'm counting on you ladies to motivate my butt!!! LOL I get all the flylady emails...does that count :P

finished the kitchen, wiped out the fridge, unloaded and reloaded dishwasher...moving on to living room. My brother came over and interrupted me for a little while but here I go again :)

 your doin' it!!

remember what Walter Elliott said...Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another. :D

Lizzy, not all of us have that Latina Heat.

lol

Just do one thing at a time, look around and think, what do I really want done? And just work on that NOTHING else. And when you're done with that, look for the next thing you really want done?
