I'm signing up with a group of girls at work. I looked at it online awhile back, but know myself well enough to know that I NEED someone to hold me accountable for weigh-ins. Knowing that the girls at work will be weighing in too is the perfect incentive for me to keep up with it and work out extra hard.

Just wondering who's done it, if you had success, and any tips/tricks you have...

I did WW for a while about 4 years ago...and let me tell you I have mixed feelings about it....let me lay it out. If you are willing to commit to it whole heartedly, it will work. I lost over 70 pounds. The problem is, it has to be a life change. You can't "stop" doing WW, if you want the results to last, in my experience, you have to do it from here on out. They have some great information, and great ideas, and it does work...but in order to maintain you have to keep it up. I guess that's true with any weight loss program. So yeah, I liked it alot, but I didn't like it so much when I had to keep doing it...hence...I found most of the 70 pounds again.

Hope you enjoy it and find success! Good Luck.

I do it and I love it, when I stick to it. LOL!

Their recipe review thread is the best. I get almost all of my recipes from there.

I've lost 30 pounds in 6 months, I can't say weight watchers has done all of that, but the last 10 have been from weight watchers.

I have. I just restarted on Monday. Aaron is right. It's a lifestyle change - not a diet. If you don't permanently change what you eat, how much you eat and when you eat, it won't do you any good. However, I have developed much better eating habits by doing WW and have managed to keep off 15 lbs. off from where I originally started a couple of years ago. After you have done it for so long you will know the points without using their calculator and you will always think "oh, this would be ___ points". Well, at least I do. LOL!!!

Anyways, to make things short, I love WW. It is also the only known "diet" that is accredited by the FDA and one that most doctors recommend.

Stock up on veggies. Eat 5 small meals/snacks a day and don't eat too late in the evening. If you want something sweet, get the WW snack cakes (1 pt) or have a sweet diet soda (like diet dr. pepper berries and creme). Also, in the winter, the zero point veggie soup is a great thing to have on hand.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to PM me. I have quite a few good recipes too!

Said perfectly!

I've done WW 10 years ago and lost 40 pounds, kept it off for 6 years until I got pregnant, had two boys, then I did WW on my own (not going to meetings) and lost the baby weight, I basically didn't focus as I should have on my diet the past year and I gained 15 pounds so I signed back up at WW last week and have lost 5 pounds just this week again. It does work, but it's a life change. My weight will always be something I struggle with, I love food and it's not always the best foods for me that I love so the WW program works for me in helping me stay accountable.

Ijust have to butt in for a quick second and say that it took me a minute to understand that your title means "follow-up",right?

I was SO not reading it that way. I was like, "Yeah! F/U to diets!"

ROFL.

That's not the FU I use when thinking about diets.

Love the program and it has totally worked for me. I agree, it's definitely a lifestyle change if you want to keep it off but that's the same with any weight loss program. It definitely stresses how you eat and makes you look at the habits you have that don't mesh with the way you want to be.

Good luck!

I've been doing it for two years. I started at 513 and have lost 129 lbs so far. There was a six month period that I went off of it, but I only gained back 13 lbs.

I endorse it 100%!!

WOW! That's AWESOME Paula. I wanna be like you! Last time I did WW, in ONE week I gained 10 pounds and what really made me :cursing: was that I followed everything really strictly. I even drank most of my water! That is a huge feat for me in itself.

I've never done meetings though, I always do online. I'm sure the meetings really help to.

Paula that is fantastic! Congratulations!

I agree that is probably is the best "diet" out there, really b/c it's a lifestyle change. My wife and I still follow a lot of the "concepts" about WW, but we put more focus on eating well, and making good choices...our 4 YO has gotten very sensitive about weight, telling us she can't eat stuff b/c she will gain weight (thank you very much damn pediatirician) so we are trying to be a bit less "diet and lose weight!" and more eat good to be healthy. If that makes sense.

I have mixed emotions about the meetings. I think that if you find a really good, motivating leader, they are one of the best things about the program. However, as with anything, sometimes that doesn't always happen. I attended meetings a while ago where skinny moms dominated complaining about losing weight and not letting the leader do what they are supposed to do. For me, that wasn't a good fit...I guess that's what it all boils down to - finding a good fit for yourself.

P.S. You guys are totally making me want to start up again.

I've never done it, but I've heard lots of good about it. I'll echo what others have been saying--it works because it's NOT a diet. It works because it IS a life change. I say, if your weight is really that important to you, then commit to the life change and change your life.

If you want to check out something else, there's a group called LIFEChange that helps improve your overall quality of life, not just overcoming weight challenges. Again, I haven't tried it, but I know others who have and they totally recommend it. (I have been to a few lectures/presentations by the owner/creator, and she is absolutely fabulous and motivating.) You can check it out here (http://www.lifechangeprogram.com/index.html).

Good luck!

I haven't tried WW...but am curious about it. The "menus" or recipes have me wondering...I am a picky eater and my kids are even PICKIER. I kinda want to see what they are expecting before I sign up. KWIM?

I joined Inches A Weigh and loved the fact that it was weight loss...nutrition... cardio exercise, and toning beds (helps those inches get off!). They did sell nutrition supplements...but it was teaching you more to eat right. Although I didn't make it to my goal weight before the local centers closed (bankruptcy for the local owners)...I DID LOSE 70 POUNDS! They closed in May and I bought an elliptical machine. I have slacked the last couple of weeks and know I have gained a few pounds back. Going to start my glucosamine tablets up again...as I have had my knees hurting me again and know it is due to not taking them.

...but I have wondered about WW...wasn't sure about a "group session" on losing weight...at the IAW it was closed door one on one counseling on our written food diary. Can you eat what the family eats or visa versa? I know my family doesn't eat what I ate on my IAW diet because they really balk at veggies...

WW is awesome. I am an online member and the tracker keeps me accountable. It's worth every cent. I've lost about 50lbs in a year or so and that's with LOTS of cheating during holidays and vacations. It's not a diet though..it's a lifestyle, so look at it that way and you won't ever stop. :) Good luck!

It took me a few minutes to realize "F/U" meant follow up.

That's not the FU I use when thinking about diets.

WAhAHAAHAHA! That's what I thought too! When I see F/U I don't think follow-up!

I did WW a year ago and lost 45lbs in 6 months, but then I got complacent and didn't lose the last 25lbs I wanted before I got pregnant again. It worked fabulously for me if I stayed committed - just like most things (except for pills and such). I'm going to jump back on the wagon 2 weeks after this little pumpkin is born because I refuse to ring in my 30th year with baby weight on! LOL:p
