Ok, how do you choose what to get with SR?!

I have 14 kits and 3 element packs on my wish list and I can't decide what to get!! Do you all use rating systems of what you want, really want, or can't wait for? Do you pick kit names out of a hat? Please tell me how you narrow your list or I could end up spending $80 on kits this week :sigh:

I need a 12 step program or something

I too have a list about that long! LOL. I just decide based on what photos I want to scrap -- like now. :) :)

But I will still wind up spending too much.

I go through the entire store and add anything I want to my cart.
Then, I look at my cart and decide what I really can't live without for another month.
Sometimes I give in and spend more than I normally would. And other times I force myself to be good and stick to what I said I would (usually within $5, LOL).

I have a HUGE list (like 40 things) and how I narrow it down is several ways

1. Pictures I took the month before
2. Hoildays (reals ones and like birthdays, back to school, science fair ect...) coming up or just past
3. Challenges for the month.

I narrow it down by chosing the kits I am pretty sure I will use first. Though sometimes it comes up to new Sweet Rewards time and I didn't get a chance to use 1 or 2 of the kits I got.

I have to say this (Sweet Rewards) has really stretched my budget to the max...........before I started doing the challenges I was only buying the FWP
items that I could use............

Now I have the difficult choice of how to keep my spending under control.............I think $30.00 is under control, don't you?

First I go through the store and FILL my cart...with anything that catches my eye. Then I go through my cart, and really look at what I've picked. Did I pick it just because I think its cute...or can I really work with it? I keep a list of pics to scrap and if they don't work...I chuck em. I've narrowed mine down to about $60 before the coupon. Not bad!

I have been narrowing down my wishlist because well it just keeps growing and I can't keep up with it so I just went through it today and picked out the things that I know I have pics for and want to scrap this month. I have my list narrowed down to 13 kits and those I'll get with SR on Monday. Next month I'll go through again and decide what I have pics for and chose the kits for those. Not the best system but that's really the only thing I can think of, otherwise it's so hard to decide.

Ah, you all have so much more willpower than me lmao! Thanks for the suggestions! I think I will go through my pics and see what I want to scrap soon. Great ideas ladies!! Thanks!!

I am no help because I just always ended up getting it all! I always justified it in that I was saving money so I needed to load up. Sounded good to me :D

You know you are right though, if you consider how much you are saving by getting them vs. waiting and the most likely getting them at a later time anyway it's worth just buying them all!

I set a certain amount of what I want to spend (right around 20 dollars)...put all the kits that I want in my cart and see how much it is after SR coupon would be deducted and then if it is to high I take out a kit at a time until it goes down where I want it. I am hoping to be able to buy several kits Ive been eyeing. Doofles, Giggles, Sibling Rivalry set and Pink Lemonade one (not sure of its name)

I rate them when I put them into my Kaboodle. If I really really really love something when I see it, it gets a priority rating (5), then 4, then 3, etc. At SW time, I go through all the 5's first, then the 4's, etc. and decide that way. It's still incredibly hard to narrow down though!

I have a monthly scrapping budget that I need to stick to, and that makes it a little easier. If I go over what I wanted to spend with my SR discount, I don't get to do any shopping for the rest of the month--good incentive not to overspend too much, LOL!

As for how I decide, it's either kits I know I'll get the most use out of or kits that work for the photos I want to scrap ASAP. I steer away from strongly themed kits that I'd only use once or twice. I also think about my stash and try to buy things that fill gaps (colors I don't have enough of, etc). This time around I've been practically counting the days until I could get Julie Billingsley's fall kit (from last week), so that will be the first thing I put in my cart!

I only can spend $10 a month... yeah, I'm on a pretty tight budget, but I have fun anyway and the kits I DO buy I ALWAYS use, usually two or three times! So SR have been awesome for me. I only do challenges every other month, and I don't shop on the non-SR month, so then I can spend up to $20 every other month. It means I actually get more in the long run. SO this month I am able to buy four kits and one element pack, with $3.00 left over to spend at another shop (a little tiny something that we don't have here....) So I knew I could only buy four. Two are must haves (Deep Blue Sea and Sand In My SHorts) because I have HUNDREDS of photos that I could scrap with these. Probably six layouts worth, and a mini album or two. I've desperately wanted them since I saw them, but I had to wait. Now I can get one or two more, and it's sooo hard to choose. I have a list of the next 20 layouts I need to do though, so I did see that I need another good boy kit, and maybe something else fun that I don't have anything like yet. Yeah, I have to think through my purchases a lot more carefully, I guess!

Wow! I only have about, oh, 63 kits on my wishlist and 13 element packs, LOL.
So yeah, I am currently going through my wishlist items and my upcoming LO ideas and seeing what kits will work with the subjects and I can get the most use out of.

Yeah, this is hard. I've become much more selective when it comes to using Sweet Rewards, because let's face it, if I got everything I wanted, I'd be broke. I've started prioritizing what I need to scrap, and I only buy kits that will help me get my pictures scrapped. It's really tempting to just buy things that are pretty, but I find that they just sit on my HD unless I actually have a reason to use them.

Good luck deciding!

I added up everything in my Kaboodle last night, before discount it was $85, which is still too much after discount. I tagged for later a couple kits that were very similar in color to other kits, deciding based on which elements & paper patterns I prefered right now. Then I tagged for later a couple autumn kits because its going to be well into October before I have any good photos for them & then I made myself choose just one pack of fonts. This knocked over $30 off the total. I'm still going to have to remove a kit to get within my budget but I'm putting that off right now.

I put everything I want in my cart, and then, I start weeding out until it's a managable amount (which is a preset amount that I have in my head, varies from month to month). There are things I put in there, then a week later, I realize I don't really want it, kwim? Also, there are things I want that I "stumble" on, so if I don't put them in my cart right away, I forget about them.

That's what I do, and it works for me.

i just put anything in my cart that looks good to me (the whole store?) then go back through and decide what I really really must have. I don't have an unlimited budget, and i have already spent a lot this month. So come Monday I have i think one kit and maybe an alpha and thats it.

I was never very efficient at this...I bought weekly also, so I would tend to lean towards the new releases for that week...then I would often forget things I wanted...It took me about 5 months to remember to add my QT to my cart...
Good luck and remember-there is always next month-or at least that is what I told myself.

Thanks ladies! I guess the problem is that I haven't made a budget for myself and I buy weekly so its really older stuff I missed as new releases that I want. Guess I'll just go through my list a couple times and see what I really want to use. Its so hard because all the designers are so amazing and this is my first time with enough points to get a Sweet Reward lol!

Thanks again! Off to look at my list and the store again lol

I usually buy one or 2 things a week, if I have a specific immediate use for them, then I Kaboodle the rest of the things I want for when I get my points.
