My dad got one for me (us, being dh and I, but he and I both know who'll be using it,lol). Not sure what it looks like or anything else but that it's a compaq/hp. I'm not complaining, I'm excited to have one at all, lol. AND, he's going to be sending me his PS7 because it's for Windows and he switched back to a Mac.
Here's my question. Will I be needing a router since I'm going to now have two machines? Can't spend a whole lot of money but would like advice on the things one should have when you have a desktop and a laptop.
I also am thinking seriously about getting a mouse for it, as well as one of those laptop cooling systems.
So, besides all that, what else would you suggest to add, need, etc?
Also, he got the upgrade to Vista and I'm going to have to install it (Hey, I happen to like Vista, lol). Is it hard to install a new OS? Warn me now, I need to, want to be, prepared, lol.

Yeah, I'd get a router so you can take the laptop anywhere in the house and still have internet. Make sure if the laptop doesn't have a wireless card inside, that you buy one. Congrats btw. :)

Ty :
Sometime early spring, my dad offered me his "old" Toshiba laptop and it was going to need a little work. Well, he took it to have it looked at and then not too long after that, he went into the hospital for some very serious stuff and was in there around month. So obviously, this wasn't the first thing on his mind, or mine for that matter. But a couple or three weeks ago, might've been longer, my sense of time is aweful anymore, lol, he told me the hd was bad and he was going to look into getting a new one for it. I'm guessing that he found this one while doing that. He got it from MicroCenter (of which there are only two in Ohio and the closest is about an hour and a half away:glare: , so i pray nothing goes wrong, lol). At least he bought a three year warranty for it,lol.
I just want to be prepared for any and all contingincies :p
congrats!!
no clue how hard it is to install a new OS... dh takes care of all that. I'm not sure PS7 is compatible w/Vista?? maybe so... I'm sure someone else will know though.
have fun with it!

well, if it isn't, i'll leave well enough alone, lol. It's not like I don't know how to use it,lol. And I'd rather have the PS than the vista, lol.

congrats on the laptop.
def get wireless router.
cooling fan couldn't hurt. I now pretty much have to use one whenever I use my laptop :(.
i've never felt the need for a mouse. I like the touchpad thing.

Congrats!!!
But no, PS7 won't work on Vista, I think it only goes down as far as CS2 is compatable? But I might be wrong.
I hope it's tons of fun, and is really good for you! Yay!
