all morning i have been organizing my pics on my computer and then burning them to disc. k. so i did about 7 disc full and now all of a sudden my computer won't even recognize when i put a disc in.

can anyone help me!?!?

This happened to me last week. Make sure something is not running when you put in the disc. Also the full shut down and restart should get you going. My Burning program was open and it was messing it up.

did a full shut down (sorry should've mentioned that). still nothing. used 5 different brand new discs. the same discs i used all morning!

well that sucks! Do you have another computer in the household? maybe you should try the other computer to see if it works...

well i need to get the pics of off a particular computer, you see.

oh ok, i misunderstood the question lol, i thought you meant you couldn't get the computer to rec the CDs you already put pics on...

As for not rec blank CDs... i've never had that prob so no help there except restart it but you already done that...

Do you have another computer you can test the disks on to see if that computer recognizes the disks? That way you can see if it's the disks or the computer.

i think it's the computer. i just put the same disc in my other comp and it came up just fine. :( (i'm getting sooo angry.)

could it be the program you are using and not the disks? Maybe try and see if it recognizes say a music disk? Or maybe burning several disks in a row may have overheated the drive? Im not sure if that is possible. One other final thing...try going to the manufacturers website. Like for me it is hewlett packard. They have a help section which lists many common problems and how to fix them. That might help you find a solution

Ok Try hitting Contol+Alt+Delete at the same time to open up your task manager - then click on the link at the top for Processes. Then select whatever program you are using to burn your discs (If it is there) then at the bottom click end process. This will kill the prgram if it is still runiing behind the scenes. The try re-opening your program and see if that works.

hey, that happened to me.

eventually I was installing a new CD/DVD drive with help from emachines phone support.

i have no explanation though for what happened. But like you I was burning a bunch of disks and then nothing. maybe the burners get overheated and burn out?

pretty sure the drive is broken! LAME. i did however find a flash drive so i can get them off that way. geeez. thanks everyone for your support. i would've gone utterly mad otherwise!

Oh no! That sucks and I have no advice...

... but I did once buy an emachine computer and it totally died in a year and a half... so did my dad's!! lol
