Update from Houston

Darcy Baldwin

Just a Scrapper
I just talked to Amanda, who sounds really tired after a long night of not a lot of sleep. I never could get ahold of Melissa last night on Yahoo..so hope they're doing okay, but are most likely in the same boat as Amanda.

They made it through, but have been without electricity, and probably will be for days as the entire city of Houston seems to be out of power and it may be awhile before they get everyone restored. She said what they can see out of one of the windows is that there's quite a big of damage in their back yard - fence down, garden uprooted and lots of limb damage, but they won't know the full extent until the rain/wind lets up and they go look.

Her parents have a live wire in their front yard, so they may get electricity before most since the company will have to fix that for safety reasons, but Amanda said, if they know they won't get electricity at their house, it'll be a race to whichever relative gets electricity first

So keep her in your thoughts, they may have a few days of ick ahead just trying to cope and get back in digi-life.

Thanks for the update Darcy! Pass along my prayers and thoughts to Amanda and Melissa if you get a hold of her!

Thanks so much for the update, Darcy! Will continue to pray for everyone over there! I hope Amanda gets her electricity restored ASAP

Oh poor Amanda..I so remember those days after katrina with no power..you feel so cut off from the world...especially when all the phone lines and cell towers are down too. They are definately in my prayers and I hope the worst is past for them.

WOW....I am glad they are OK though!!!! Thanks for the update and please pass along my prayers for them ALL!!!

Thanks for the update. Thank God they came through it. Please tell her I am so happy they are okay and I will continue to pray for them.

Thanks for the update. Man, I hated living on the gulf during hurricane season. Hugs to all the girls that were affected.

Whew! Thanks so much for the update Darcy! I have been thinking of everyone all day. I was out most of the day and just got on and I'm so relieved to hear everyone is OK!

I have been so worried about you girs...Miss Amanda sent me an off line telling me Happy Birthday-and I could tell she was scared...I miss her and I'm praying for her and her family...
Hugs girly....You to D!

My thoughts and prayers are with them. My parents got pounded and aren't allowed to come home yet.

Thanks for the thougths girls!

We were lucky. Very lucky. And I have a big story to tell about it but do not have the time today. We are still without power so I am at my inlaws right now. We are not sure when it will all be restored so there is no telling when I will be back.

THIS happened this evening in CLEVELAND. I can't even imagine what the wind must be like in the actual hurricane.

That's my dh in our backyard on the right side of the pic, I would have cropped him out but I wanted him there for scale/perspective. We were in our yard securing the pool stuff when I heard creeking. Then this!
