Is coming...on the 23rd of this month! I guess I'll hold off upgrading to CS3 and just get CS4, lol! :)

Son of a! Guess I'll just get 4 later this year too then, lol!

Yeah, I had NO idea they were going to come out with CS4 so quickly! It took 3 years for them to do CS3, so I assumed it would be at least a couple years before they made a new upgrade available.

Though I guess it'll depend on what they "upgrade" - it probably won't be necessary to upgrade from 3 to 4, seeing as how not a lot will have changed in the past year.

Wonder if that'll make 3 cheaper . . . :p

My wheels are just turning since I want to upgrade from Elements. LOL

Bree, I think it was 2 years btw CS2 (April 2005) and CS3 (April 2007). I read somewhere that they usually shoot for 18 months - 2 years.

Hmmm...there are still things on 3 I don't know how to do. Wonder how much they'll change it!?!

No idea, Eve! All the email said was:

9.23.08
New Adobe Creative Suite 4
It's going to be brilliant

On some tech blogs I've been reading it says CS4 mainly fixes some glitches in compatability with Vista and not many new features (one new feature I read about was automatic canvass rotation lol). From what I read the 23rd is when it is being introduced to the public not when it goes on sale.

I'm wondering what will change or be improved... I really don't think I'll upgrade unless there is something great about 4!

I have CS2 and don't actually need to upgrade to CS3 yet. The only reason I am going to is because CS2 doesn't work with Mac's OSX (Leopard)...which I probably won't be getting until after CS4 is released anyway, lol.

Ok I snoped around NAPP and I guess it is pretty top secret. Also from what I read it isn't going to be released the 23rd, just unveiled in a live web broadcast. It is going to have to have some out of this world stuff before I go and uograde again! lol

Oooh! I was going to order the CS3/Illustrator bundle from Academic Superstore at the end of the month. Guess I'll wait a bit and see what they have available!

It makes me want to go to San Jose and beg for a job at Adobe! The employee discount is amazing(like $40 for CS3) and I could never afford the regular price! Shoot.

Ah, that would make sense that it's just a broadcast then. I kinda thought I hadn't heard anything much about it, usually there's lots of talk just before it's released. It's alllll coming together for me now, haha.

I probably won't upgrade, unless it's a super sweet deal, I tossed down the $700 for CS3 about 9 months ago, and I couldn't justify the expense to upgrade yet.

Wow, I still feel satisfied with CS3..... I wonder if I will feel the NEEEEEEED to upgrade once it comes out.... I hope not.. LOL! :glare:

I probably won't upgrade from cs2. I am still learning some stuff. The jump from pse7 to cs2 wasn't much. I have messed with cs3 though and I saw some changes.

Just isn't much worth it to me.

I just got CS3.

Most likely I'll just wait until CS4 since I just got CS3 last christmas. Its cheaper to upgrade than to outright buy it. Plus my BIL works at an art school and he can get me a super deal on the bundle? I wonder if they sell a bundle upgrade? Hmmm....

So, can you skip a new version and then upgrade to whatever is the next one at the same cost? So, could I skip CS4 and then upgrade to CS5 when it comes out without having to pay more than people who had CS4?

Ugh my CS3 gives me so many glitches in Vista....like ALWAYS closing...I wonder if CS4 will fix that...

Emily, they do allow you to upgrade the entire suite, but you have to upgrade to the exact same one as you previously bought.

Yep, you can upgrade from any full PS version to the latest and just pay the upgrade price. But you can't upgrade from PSE to PSCS(3, 4, 5) I don't think - they might knock a bit off the price, but it won't be the same as the upgrade price.

I know with CS3 you can upgrade the bundle to any of the versions available, even if they include more programs than your current bundle has. The upgrade pricing will just increase depending on which version you choose. I know to upgrade from CS or CS2 to CS3 Design Standard is like $360 I think and to get CS3 Design Premium is $600. The student bundle pricing is usually around the same amount as the upgrade so in some cases it's actually cheaper to buy the full student bundle rather than the upgrade.

I knew it was coming, but didn't realize they had a release date. I was planning on purchasing CS3 when my trial ran out, but maybe now I will wait for CS4. Ugh!

But then again I don't normally like to get upgrades when they first come out since there always seem to be bugs that still need to be worked out.

Decisions.... decisions.....

Ok, I'm a bit curious after reading so many comments about the glitches when using CS3 with Vista. What kind of glitches? I'm using CS3 with Vista on a laptop, have been for about 6 months now, and I've not had any issues with it so far. is there something I should be looking out for?
