Ryder Cup -- who's counting down?

Am I the only nerd here who is SOOOOO psyched for the Ryder Cup this weekend? This is my very very favorite golf tournament, and I wait patiently for 2 years between tournaments.

Granted, we've gotten our tails kicked 5 of the last 6 meetings, but I think this is our year.   I absolutely love Paul Azinger (the captain this year), and I just know he's gonna be very motivational. Plus, we're on US soil this year. How great would it be to take the cup back at home??

And for anyone who wants to rag on me for loving to watch golf (I don't play)... seriously, if you didn't watch the 1999 Ryder Cup, you have NO idea how exciting it can be. That was seriously one of the top sporting events I've EVER seen in my life.

So who's with me??? Go Team USA!

I see your mouth moving, but I do not understand the words you speak. :p

Golf is right there with, oh, I don't know...fishing sans the nasty bait. But I hope you find some fellow golf lovers to cheer with. Of course, I never mind rooting for Team USA!

from the title, i thought it was about a lil boy and his sippy cup. LOL!

Sorry i don't know anything about golf, except for there's 18 holes and Tiger Woods hehe

LIBBY! Oh, thank the good Lord, a scrappin' golf fan! Nope, you are not alone. I am totally psyched. Ok, we're down Tiger, but hey, that just means the rest of the team has to step it up, right? I think we have a better chance this year, but yikes, the Europe team is stacked.

The US team will do ok as long as the wind doesn't pick up! Our guys never do so great in bad weather--let alone windy conditions. It has been interesting to see the stats without Tiger playing. All those that you thought would show up as the leaders surprisingly haven't!

Well, I'm probably in the minority, but I'm totally ok without Tiger on the team. I think he's a great individual player, but he's made it obvious in the past that he just doesn't care about representing the US in this tournament. Plus, he doesn't have a winning Ryder Cup record, so it's not like those points are a given if he plays.

The Europeans do have a very strong team this year... stronger than ours if you go by the numbers. I'm still holding out hope. I think it's going to be an excellent tournament, and the final score will be closer than the last couple.

Agree totally. DH is a golf NUT...so I've learned in the past 10 years to follow it, too. I'm fine without Tiger. I just want our team to pull through!

I watch golf occasionally, not enough to get excited though.
But I do know Tiger isn't that great at Ryder usually, so I agree that it's no big deal he's not there.

I'm sure I'll catch some of it though :)

Sorry Libs, I don't watch golf. Jeff could chat about it with you though. That's the one sport that he watches and I don't. LOL
