Need 2 year old gift ideas

So Rory's birthday is Saturday, and I have not shopped yet! I need gift ideas for a 2 year old girl. I'll admit that I'm a horrible mom - I walk the toy aisles looking and looking and compare the price versus if I think my kids will actually play with it!

My son is turning 2 in November. i struggle with buying my kids stuff too. they don't really need any more toys; they have too many. mine really need winter clothes, but what 2 year old gets excited about that? lol. You could look online at Amazon or some other place that has customer reviews. I've done that before. that way you're not wasting your money on a stupid toy no one likes or one that is cheap and falls apart or something. i don't know what more advice to offer!

My daughter is turning 2 in November and she doesn't need any more toys thats for sure lol! I think I am going to get her a fish tank with one or two goldfish so she can learn how to feed it and take care of it- she loves the fish when we go to the pet store. I might get her another tricycle (we only have the kind with the handle to push them on the back) and probably a new baby doll and/or a new toddler bed. Those are my ideas for now.

Happy birthday Rory!!

Some of the more old-fashioned toys, like blocks, dolls, doll accessories (like strollers, cribs), Legos, play food, kitchen set. My DD is 6 now and I found that the "old-fashioned" stuff have held her interest for many more years than the electronic or fancy stuff. For example, she's still playing with the doll stroller and crib that she got when she was about 2-3 yo

I sencond the kitchen set. Natalie started playing with one at the hospital when she was TINY (like...just started walking, lol) and she STILL loves playing with it. We're thinking for our anniversary in December, we'll pick her up a kitchen to have at home, since we're not going to the hospital anymore, lol.

My son turns 2 on Saturday, too! I bought him Mickey Mouse everything, he's obsessed so anything with Mickey on it would make him happy. So I got him some sneakers (that light up), a sweatshirt, figurines, plates, cups and flatware and a keyboard. His daddy wanted to get him something, too, since I bought all that stuff without him, so he got him some Mickey jammies. My mom got him an easel, that would be good, and a CD where Mickey sings songs and his name, Nicholas, is added in the songs. For Christmas, I am getting him a big train set and table, some puzzles and other little stocking stuffer stuff. Some of his favorite toys are his rocking horse and a kid size recliner. Those could both work for a girl.

I would get peg puzzles. Esp. the great Melissa and Doug ones. The cheapie ones at Target and Walmart are great too though! :) I always really appreciate it if I get educational toys vs. commercial stuff. Naomi loves puzzles and I think most 2 y/o's do!

My 2 year old also loves her stroller, kitchen and puzzles. She inherited so much from her sisters that she is really hard to buy for. She loves dress up so I got her some costumes and shoes. Another of my faves is musical instruments - they are fun and hold their interest for years. And she loves the Fisher Price little people stuff too.

Anything Little People! My daughter has most of the sets (all thanks to Grandma!) and she's almost four and STILL plays with them, just in different ways. I think my daughter started getting into dress up, baby dolls, and play food around the age of 2.

My son and I did a lot with the Aquadoodle between the ages of 2-3. It was great for him to learn to hold a pen and 'draw' without me having to worry about a mess. When I played with him we did some educational stuff - I'd draw letters and he'd yell what they were, or count the number of stars I drew, simple stuff, but it was fun.

My MIL gave us a membership to the local Children's Museum which I thought was a great idea.

i second the educational toys vs. non-learning. i have been trying to get them things that will teach them something. of course, every commercial that comes on with some stupid Brat doll or something similar i hear "Mommy can i have that for Christmas?". grrrrr. i hate buying Chloe and Emma more dolls and toys when they have about 500 already, lol. They'll get what i want them to have (okay, i give in a little bit and get them on little thing they really want, lol). Luckily, Aidan hasn't started voicing his 'i wants' just yet!
