what.the.heck...

Someone posted about this on my mommy's board .... eeewww. I accidently put some in my coffee once (don't ask:o ) .... not tasty!

Ok, seriously. I dont' mean to bash on anyone that is a PETA member or whatever but c'mon! These people (meaning the ones that proposed this breastmilk/icecream idea) are seriously wacky. It simply blows my mind that they are unable to differentiate between torturing puppy dogs and MILKING A COW. Drives me crazy!! Its like they are just trying to get attention and shock people.

We get it. You dig animals. Enough already.

   I'm sorry, I love animals A LOT, but I have always thought PETA are a bunch of radical looney tunes (to put it politely) and, having seen that article, I rest my case.

Thats because it tastes nothing like milk! Can you imagine what icecream would taste like if it were made from breastmilk?!?!?! Ugh. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

*lol* We already had this discussion earlier tonight and also a lot of hand gesturing and chortling as he asked me if he could have some cream for his coffee 'from the tap.'

*snort* I think I ice water just came out my nose.

I'm all for utilizing the boobies as much as possible, but I don't wanna drink the boob juice..or eat it in a cone.

Hey! What about saving the arctic ice by subsituting shaved ice and snocones for frozen breastmilk slushies!

Yay! SAVE THE POLAR BEARS!!

What about saving the extra efforts it takes to censor out all those nipples on TV by just showing em?

OK, first of all...yuck! And second of all...now cows are more important than women?! How does the PETA think that milking women is a better idea than milking cows?! LMAO!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww! Ummm... that is disgusting. I didn't even try a teensy bit of my milk... I DEFINITELY do not want to be eating a bunch of random women's breastmilk. BLAH!

And, do you know how EXPENSIVE that would be? Hooking up to a pump isn't something I *enjoy* doing and you'd have to pay a woman good money to do that for someone other than her baby. AND I produced like...what... 36 ounces a day when I was nursing. A cow makes like 8 GALLONS a day. That would be some expensive, disgusting ice cream. lol

I don't think it is gross to drink breast milk ... it is what humans are meant to drink. We don't really have the correct enzymes to break up cow's milk which is why so many people have problems w/ dairy.
As to the safety ... In the cooking to make it ice cream anything "harmful" would be cooked out - just like the cow's milk is done now. I bet breastmilk ice cream would be really good. Think of the natural sweetness it has, so I am sure it would reduce the amounts of sweeteners used as well. They have breastmilk banks that mother's donate to that run tests on the milk, so why couldn't the same be done for this breastmilk.

I do think Megan is right in the fact that it would be hard for a national chain like Ben & Jerry's to implement this idea. It would be hard yo get such a large amount of breastmilk. I think it would be a better idea for a small mom & pop type of store that already makes their own ice cream from cow's milk right now to convert - like the resturant in the article.

I actually find drinking cow's milk disgusting. It is milk from an ANIMAL! Think of all the hormones that go into a cow for it to be able to produce high amounts of milk for extended periods. ICK! I rarely keep it in my house because I won't drink it, my son can't drink it & I think my daughter gets more than enough at preschool.

I actually think it would have been a more feasible idea for PETA to reccomend a rice milk based ice cream to lessen the amount of cow's milk used. But then it wouldn't be all over CNN and the internet LOL

I'm not freaked out by this at all...LOL
Course I'm a crazy freaking LeLecheLeague mom...My husband and kids all tasted it when I was nursing Landen and no one was turned off by the taste...LOL
Course they all live here and I created them so that may have something to do with the non gross out factor...hehe.

I know that there are others who disagree...but my belief is that *most* animals were put on this earth for us to use as sources for food/clothing/transportation. I'm sick of the *don't hurt the animals attitude*. Of course I'm against animal torture and abuse but for God's sake if I want a steak then I have the right to eat one!!!!!!!!!!!
And I'm NOT drinking titty juice to save the cow the trouble of having it's nips yanked for milk.

I breastfed all my kids, and I would have no interest in eating anything made with some random person's breastmilk. They would have to hook ladies up to machines and milk THEM all day to make up for the sheer quantity they would need, and I don't even think it's feasible to think about.

Yet again, just another shock tactic by PETA. I love animals too, and never want to see them harmed, but come on, milking humans instead of animals???

Um, yuck. But I would probably lose weight because any and all dairy would become instantly yucky. Hmmmmm..... maybe that's a good weight loss method. :)

Oh goodness. They can't possibly be serious. What is wrong with these people? It's only for the shock factor and to make headlines, surely.

And, for the record, I'm a huge breastfeeding supporter...but I have zero interest in having it in my ice cream, coffee, cheese, or anything else.

I could go on about this and would probably get involved in a really ugly debate, so I'll just leave it at that.

I read this and thought what the heck this is gross! Now I am ALL for breastfeeding and in fact I nursed Noah for about 22 months but I am sooo not interested in drinking it LOL

Eww. Can you imagine what the conversation would be like between a milking woman and an old acquaintance?

OA (old acquaintance): Hi MW! You are looking good (*thinking secretly that mw's boobies are looking ready to pop the buttons off her blouse). {Make small talk}. So, what have you been up to since high school / university / that crappy job we had together?

MW (milking woman): Well OA, you know its ALWAYS been my dream to express breast milk for a good cause. Oh wait, you didn't know that? Well, it has been. Since I was 4! So ANYWAYS, now I do! Yep, every other day, my husband injects hormones into me to help me produce milk, and those days, I go to the factory, get hooked up to cold, steel machines and they suck the milk clean dry out of me! It's the BEST JOB IN THE WORLD! I'm so glad that I leave my kids at an overpriced Nanny's to be able to do this!

OA: What do they do with the breastmilk? Give it to starving babies around the world, or to babies that have been adopted?

MW: Oh, now don't be so silly! Of course not!! Ben and Jerry's is now making their ice cream with breast milk. Oh, you didn't know that? Why are you turning green? Come back here!!! Don't barf on my roses!!!

Yep. Sounds great! Sign me up for the first scoop of mint chocolate chip!

bwahahaha, Jaedyn!

i'd rather watch a feral cat eat a baby bunny than eat/drink human breastmilk.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! loved that convo. i saw it oh so clearly in my mind. people are just soooo freaking obnoxious.

And I'm NOT drinking titty juice to save the cow the trouble of having it's nips yanked for milk.

hahahahaha! if i had been drinking my soda just then i'd have a soaked laptop!

i think its disgusting to even consider this! It would take forever to get enough breast milk to make all that ice cream. the rice milk idea made more sense; then no human or animal would be needed. Not that i'd probably eat that either, but still. i don't like animals harmed but this is going a little too far. i didn't realize that cows were harmed at all during the milking process?
