Kids! (a funny)

So I run upstairs to change leaving my 3 year old downstairs watching TV. When I come down, I catch him hurriedly shoving something under the chair cushion and rushing to swallow whatever was in his month. He knows he is suppose to ask before getting any food. I march over to the chair to uncover the plundered food. Did he help himself to the marshmallows? Discover my chocolate stash? Fish crackers? No - he had taken a bag of raw broccoli and a box of cherry tomatoes from the fridge and was going to town. Apparently my son can make better food choices than me :)

 That's aewsome!! My 3 yo runs in the opposite direction of broccoli!! You've taught Jamin well.

aaahahahhahaha! Thats too funny Misty! My almost-three-year-old is quite the non-eater and we have a rule that if he doesn't eat dinner then he doesn't eat for the rest of the night. Period. We're tired of playing these eating games with him.
But the other night he pulled out a basket of cherry tomatoes from the fridge (after dinner time when he didn't eat) and asked if he could have them. I let him simply because it was so healthy for him (better than the lasagna we had for dinner lol)...

I seriously did laugh out loud (probably drawing strange looks from my coworkers) ... that is just too funny. Apparently I don't have your parenting skills because I found my 2 year old with his entire fist in a jar of jam yesterday, lol ... my 4 year old was "kind" enough to take it from the fridge, open it and hand it to him .... wasn't that nice of him?

lol that's funny :)

I think I'd pass out if I caught Avery with any type of vegetable. I have to play the sneaky chef with him and mix them in with his mac and cheese :)

Same here...no green veggies for L.J. He did pitch a fit the other night though to have something while I was cooking dinner and I wasn't going to give in until I realized it was a banana that he really wanted. Needless to say he didn't eat much dinner, but the banana was healthier than the meal anyway.

LOL! That is too funny Misty!!!! And so awesome! LOL!

I found Ezra with a bag of gold fish crackers dumped in the dining room the other morning, lol! I guess that's not as bad as some!

Dude! Did you have to still have him get in trouble for the "sneaking" part? That's always the hard thing...like how my daughter would stay up reading many, many nights past bedtime. It's so hard to get upset about that kind of thing.

I was laughing too hard to convincingly reprimand him. I did restate that it was not ok to help himself to food without asking, but other than that he pretty much got a free pass on this particular crime spree.

Your dilemma is exactly why we don't have a bedtime, but rather an 'in-your-bed' time. Jamin is allowed to stay up looking at books or playing as long as he likes as long as he is in his bed. It's working for now and he rarely makes it longer than 30 minutes before he is conked out anyway. If it ever gets to the point where he won't get up in the mornings, or is really cranking and clearly not getting enough sleep, we will re-evaluate.

we have the same rule. i can see him with a piece of broccoli hanging out of his mouth and with a sweet innocent look on his face. what a dear! good boy!

Hmmm maybe you've come accross the secret? tell our kids they are not big enough to eat vegetables! Hahhaha... that's so cute!

LOL!!!! How cute!!!

We always tell Derrick that he can't have Fruit/Veggie because it will make him big and strong. Reverse psychology works great on him. He will eat almost any veggie and most fruits. In fact, he eats tomatoes and broccoli like they are going out of style. I also have to cook him his own artichoke when we have them because he usually eats most of one by himself. He doesn't like asparagus yet though... maybe next summer! LOL!!!
