Facebook. Is it just me? I have a few "friends" on there... but I just don't "get it". I guess I need to learn to navigate it better, but at 30 I;m feeling like an old fuddy-duddy!

Anyone want to give me a clue? Or be my friend? :o LOL!

Off to scrap with KCB's fabulous new kit... be back soon for Facebook help. :)

I don't think it's for everyone, so unless you realllllly want to get into it, I wouldn't fret OR say you're old, lol. I love all the activities in it, It can keep me occupied when I need to keep myself busy and don't have anything else important to do :D

I'm on facebook! I just use it to keep in touch with old friends and to share pics and scrapbook pages. But, don't feel bad about not "getting it" because they just redesigned it and I'm not even sure what's going on anymore! :D It was way better, IMO, before the redesign. Not to mention that now it takes forever to write on someone's wall...anyone else have that problem? It doesn't keep up with what I'm typing... it's super slooooow a t g e t t i n g w h a t I t y p e a s I t y p e i t.

I don't get it either...like MySpace way better. I have an acct. and a few "friends," but somehow it's just beyond me.

LOL. When I signed up, I said exactly the same thing: "I don't get it." I still don't!

I can't be bothered with Facebook or MySpace. Huge timewasters imo, plus I want much more control of any such internet presence for myself.

Joan, I have new insight to you. You're the one who always set the curve, made everyone else look bad and was frequently called "overachiever" by ummm underachievers like me me, huh? lol I bet your house is always clean, dinner is always ready on time and your husband doesn't nag you because you always have everything done. {sigh} I wish I was more like you, girl.

I don't play any of the games on facebook and have blocked most of the things people want to give me or throw at me or whatever. I just like to keep up with friends from high school & college that I would NEVER see or hear from otherwise. I like to see their pictures, hear about their new babies and write on my brothers' girlfriends' wall in my sly effort to exert some influence over his life. I like that I can control who views my profile, and I'm not obsessed with it at all. I just check it a few times a week to see what's going on with everybody.

I actually like the new version better, and I'd be happy to help you navigate it anytime you want, girl.

I didn't know there was a new version, that's how much I get on!

It is a waste of time to me as well. I just don't get into it. I use my blogs, family and scrap, for all the people I care to see or know anything about me. I have connected with some old friends, but we don't even "write" on each other's walls or anything, so it's pointless. So yeah... I check in once every 2-3 weeks and really do nothing. Not my thing!

I guess I've only been on with the new version so I don't know what the old version was.. but uh, yeah, I always have trouble navigating for some reason!

I am the worst housewife and housekeeper EVAH! Seriously, I'm a certifiable nightmare in the Suzy Homemaker department! :D Not to mention a walking, talking PSA for adult ADHD. Um, yeah, you could say things are just a wee bit scattered and disorganized in the life of Joan LOL.

Thanks so much for the offer. I truly do appreciate it. I guess I didn't do a very good job of saying what I mean. What I mean by having more control of my internet presence is, any blogs, family website or anything I have I want to have full control over, i.e. my own domain, complete control of the content, the software I use to put it on the net, etc etc. It's just what I prefer.

I know everyone tells me you can make your Facebook private, blah blah blah, but it is all ultimately controlled by some faceless someone somewhere else, and you're putting a lot of personal information in the hands of someone else. These sorts of things have been compromised before and they'll be compromised again. I'm always seriously boggled by how much people put of themselves up on the internet without giving it a second thought.

Then if you feel old at 30 for not getting it, I must be a geezer LOL I don't get it, either. I tried..I prefer IM's instead of chasing around for people. I just felt like that in the beginning.

I like facebook, couldn't understand the point of myspace, I just like looking at my brothers photos since he's not allowed to talk to me while he is living in my mothers house it's the only way I can talk to him and find out how all the kids are doing. Good job my mum is completely computer illiterate or we wouldn't even have that.

i have both, I started on myspace, then somehow started on facebook. The apps are cool, but I use it to keep up with my far away friends and share my photos and scrapbook pages. I didn't like facebook when I first started, but now I like it way more than myspace. Whether to use it or not, I guess really depends on your personality, for me, it's nice to see what my friends are up to, especially when I can't call them all!!!

FB helps me keep up with all my former youth ministry kids. It's one of their primary means of communication, and I love looking at all their crazy pictures. It's also fun to keep up with my scrappin' friends and their pictures & layouts in a convenient one website format.

Basically, I love having the 'scoop,' and just by clicking on the FB homepage, you can scroll through the latest status updates, uploaded pictures, & comments they've left on anyone's pages, including yours, so you have the scoop in the most effective and laziest way possible.

I have had an account for about a year(ish), lol...I don't really USE the account and now it's pretty much pointless because I originally used it to catch up with peeps from high school and friends from the various towns I used to live in, but now it's got soooo many scrapbooking "friends" (most of who I've never met, but do know their names from forums, etc) and I never go there anyway. So yeah, I don't really "get it" either, lol.

I don't get Facebook either but for a few weeks I really got into Flair, Lil Green Patch, sending cupcakes, word games and my virtual puppy. Now I don't do any of those things.

I like seeing people's status updates. that's about it. :D

I guess I'm just old, too! I don't do facebook, myspace, or any of the others. Between scrapping, emailing friends and family, and checking the forums, I spend way too much time on the computer as it is.

I mostly play the games when I am bored, but I do like being able to easily keep track of friends in one place instead of going from blog to blog. I didnt get the whole MS/FB thing and was peer pressured into trying it out.

tee hee - I don't get it either!! I was thinking the same thing to myself last week how I don't understand most of its features... What bugs me the most is I keep getting friend requests from people I hardly know, but are mutual friends of people I do know... KWIM?

I love FB AND Myspace LOL. I honestly have been seriously slacking with face book though. I forget to check in quite a bit.

I have one but I hardly use it. The site sends me an email when I get a message or something and then I will go check it. I tried to stay away because I thought it was only for teenagers- I mean I remember it being a big deal when I was in high school. I got one under pressure though lol.

Don't feel old- I really don't get it either although I do like putting pics on there lol

I have Facebook & a Myspace page. can't recall the last time I logged into either of them. There are 2 people I went to high school with on MySpace and several people from my bunco group, but we see each other regularly. There are a few people from my high school on Facebook, solely to keep an eye on their teens. They rarely post. Everyone else I know there I met online in forums and on blogs. I see them on forums & read their blogs daily.

Maybe if there were more people on there that I don't see often in real life or on the forums I might feel differently, but I have enought online activity as it is with keeping up with forums and blogs. :)

I have both also. I never check my myspace anymore unless I see that I have a new message from someone via email alert. I check my facebook daily though to keep up on what my sister, SIL, and a couple of good friends from h.s. are doing. I actually got a facebook account originally so I could play Scrabble on there with friends but I haven't done that for a while either. (It may actually be gone now because scrabble was suing them over copyright infringement or something.)

I don't get the new format either though. It seems like it takes me longer to find out what I want to know now. lol

I have both but I never log in to myspace. That is the one that I don't get. I love how Facebook lets me keep in touch with people that I may otherwise never talk to.
