Ok Dawn! You asked for it...
I work at a local elementary school as the school nurse. Technically I'm the "Health Aide" but I'm basically the school nurse w/o the nursing degree. Its complicated.
I spend my days in my cute little health office/cement cell bandaging scraped knees, doling out icepacks, and taking temperatures. I also assist in the front office (right outside my door) with phone calls, paper work, mail sorting, parent contact, etc. The office manager is really great and we get along well. The principal, who is always around because his office is next to mine, is also really awesome and the three of us are pretty much big goofs all day long.
I love my job. I love the people I work with and the kids at the school. Its a pretty small school (only 245 students) but its a great group of people.
I'm usually pretty busy during the 5 1/2 hours a day that I'm here, but the past two days have been painfully boring. First, the office manager is out of town and she has a sub who is uber boring. Secondly, the fifth and fourth graders have had field trips for the past two days, making it unusually quiet around here. My "frequent fliers" that I get almost daily here in the health office (mostly a bunch of fakers) have apparently been healed and no longer visit me with phantom aches and pains and ailments.
So, I've been doing a lot of SSD surfing, blog reading, and nose-picking (lol j/k). I leave in 45 mins and it feels like a lifetime away.
On a happier note, I got a Qdoba card from my boss/principal for $10 so it looks like i"m gonna Qdoba-it-up this weekend! :w00t:
