my question is: do you think any of the shoppes or forums in digi-scrapping land sell their email lists? i ask because shortly after starting scrapping did i EVER start to get spam in my email. i cannot count how many times i have signed up for stuff re: scrapping with my good ole trusty email. (i have had the same email for 9 or 10 years now.) i'm pretty sure someone digielated sold my email address and if/when i find out who, they are gonna hear it 'lizzy-style'. *insert super mad evil glare*

I know Heather Ann had a hacking issue recently.

Do you leave a lot of blog comments? That's a good way to get spam emails. Lots of robots phish through those where you have to leave your email addy.

Reason #86590468904 why I have a separate scrapelated email address.
Also reason #3455490 why I love gmail (filters out 99% of the spam that comes in).

My spam problem is totally out of control. I get about 20-50 spam messages in my spam folder per hour, and I still get a bunch in my regular email everystinkinsingleday. I even started getting spammed in my yahoo messenger, so I had to set it to ignore everyone not on my list. It started this year, so I'm thinking someone did-not necessarily a scrap store, but it started when I started being more active in forums, scrap sites, stores. For 5 years I never had a problem with it!

Spam sucks.

I'm not 100% sure but after I signed up at Oscraps on an email account I rarely use, I started getting TONS of spam.

i leave some blog comments. only like on the peeps i know, etc. i guess that wouldn't really matter. to answer your question: no. not a lot.

I've gone through so many email addresses because of spam, lol. But lots of it started before I started scrapping let alone digi scrapping. I switched to gmail back in February and it's seriously the best thing I ever did...plus I can check my other POP3 accounts from within there and it still filters the spam. BONUS! :)

I'm registered at a LOT of stores and I'm not getting lots of spam. I get maybe 5 a day that are all filtered over to my spam box. But I'm pretty certain that none are from my registering at digi stores. One thing is sure, Robin wouldn't do that here! :)

i know robin would never do that. thank goodness. that is comforting to know that you don't get any spam julie! i really would love to switch to gmail, but i have too much happening at my hotmail.

I do have my thoughts on one store, because right after I registered there, I got slammed with viagra crap. I do NOT post my email for the most part. I use my hotmail for scrap stuff, gmail for non-scrap stuff, or just for CT emails.

I'm sure there are unscrupulous people in every industry, this one included, but I am pretty sure that none of the big stores that I frequent (including this one) would do that. Or, they wouldn't keep having my business LOL. It might also explain why these certain stores ARE the big stores LOL

I doubt it. But you never know. Only my favorite and long shopped well trusted stores have my real information. And I think here is the only one that has ALL of my real information. Just in case :D

i'm registered at a bunch of stores/sites and haven't had any real issues with spam. so either my webhost for my email has really good spam filter or i'm not really getting much.

I use only my hotmail account and I don't get much spam at all maybe 1 or 2 a day and it's always in my junk mail box and I've been digi scrapping since 2005 and posting in online forums since 2001.

I do know too that if you post your email in threads and forums posts their are phiser's that will "steal" it from there. If I ever have to post my email I always "write" at and dot. I think it only takes ONE TIME of writing it the "real" way and those sneaky little cheeky monkeys will find it!!! :cursing:

No trouble here ... I had to change email addresses about 2 years ago due to signing up at a site that was supposed to give me some health information I was looking for regarding some meds for my son, and since changing my email address I haven't had any real issues, that I'm aware of.

Sorry, Lizzy!

I get tons of spam, but that is mostly fomr hosting at a mommy board for a while. Gmail is awesome about filtering, so only like one or two a week make it to my inbox luckily!

I get lots of spam because I visit the naughty sites  LOL.... just kidding. sometimes Comcast lets a ton through and I'll call and complain and they'll fix it short term and it starts all over again.
