Where do you store your stash?

Your scrap stash that is...

Do you have everything on your computer's hard drive and then back up onto an EHD or do you store on an EHD and back-up on another EHD or CD?

Now that my stash is starting to get bigger, I really don't want it taking up all of that room on my computer's HD. When I started, I was storing things on flash drives and backing them up on my EHD. Now - I have way too much for that method. Should I invest in a portable HD for my laptop and store everything on there so I can just plug it in and go when I want to scrap?

Just wondering what other people do...

I have two EHDs: a 200gig and a 500gig. The 200 holds kits and elements while the 500 holds all my photos, collections, backups, and my ACDSee backups.

I only keep current photos (like from the last month or so) that I have not scrapped yet, current purchased items that have yet to be ACDSeed and stored on the appropriate EHD, and my CT kits on my computer HD. It's only 60 gig, and I don't like to have it too full so that it slows the computer down.

I have everything on my hard drive and on my back up hard drive. I don't have an EHD, but a full sized mirrored hard drive.

i have a 750 EHD that backs-up automatically twice a week. i want to get certain stuff on disc too, but my friggin computer won't read DVD's.

hey Lizzy have you tried doing a driver update and then if so possibly rolling the driver software back?

I store mine on DVD and on my harddrive.

CT stuff, photos, SSD, and other favorite designers are stored on my laptop HD (250GB). All photos, digi scrap stuff, and other documents are stored on my 250GB EHD which is always plugged into my laptop when I'm home. Everything is then backed up once a month to my new 500GB EHD. Plus I have the newest stuff on my work computers HD. When we travel, I don't always want to bring my EHD with me, which is why I have stuff on my laptop HD.

So.....yea. I'm pretty well covered. Oh and I've burned a few DVD's too.

I have a 500 gig ehd that I use for backups. I have everything on my laptop and also on a portable EHD. I was burning DVDs of zipfiles too until too many people convinced me it was a waste of time so now I've got to start burning the actual kits to DVD too. :)

I have 2 ehd's. Everything is on the EHD.. nothing on my computer, except for photoshop itself. I back stuff up weekly to my 2nd ehd and I also run Mozy weekly.

I keep mine on my EHD. My laptop has a 60GB HD and it's mostly filled up with audiobooks and music. I use my EHD as a secondary drive and keep all my photos & scrap stuff on it, plus it hold my music & audio backups. i have a second EHD that backs up both my HD and the first EHD.

I installed a "extra" 320GB internal HD in my tower and it's where I keep my scrapbbok stuff and photos. I also back new stuff up once a month to DVD. As a precaution (at least to my photos) I don't delete anything from my CF card until it's burned to DVD and I've checked to make sure that the disk works.

I really want to invest in an online back up but just need to DO IT!!!

Why is it a waste of time? I backed up all my zips until I got my Mac last year. Now, I just backup the kit/pack whatever it is.

Because zips are really unstable files and are much more prone to corruption than the actual kit files.
They also don't conserve much space compared to the actual kit (practically none actually).

I've heard that zip files corrupt more easily then unzipped stuff. It's just safer to back up the actually unzipped kit then the sip file.

I used to keep everything on my EHD and my IHD (internal). But now my stash is so incredibly huge, I had to change my method.

Now, I backup all of my kits onto DVDs from my EHD. On my IHD, I only keep the kits that I use a lot or know I'll be using in the future.

Because I am on several CTs, I have tons of girl kits. But I only have sons, I don't usually use those kits more than once, sometimes twice. So those are only on DVDs. But the other kits (boy kits, unisex kits, etc) that I know i"ll use are on my IHD.

Clear as mud?

I only keep new stuffs on my HD. Then monthly I burn to DVD then transfer to EHD. I hope to get Mozy or something similar soon.

Right now I have everything on my laptop. I want to get an EHD though (maybe for Christmas?) and back everything up on there. Maybe 2 EHDs.... back up and one to store the pics.

I've never saved the zips for that reason, they do corrupt and that drives me nuts. Some of my really old SSD stuff from early last year I had saved as zips and they won't even unzip now.

I have all of my stuff on my computer's hard drive (I have a bit over 100 GB) and it's all backed up to the EHD. My hard drive is 500 GB so size is not really an issue for me, in terms of space on my computer.

I just moved all of my stuff to an EHD and back up to another EHD. I tried to set up Mozy but have been having a heck of a time. I'm going to give it one more go... If I still seem to have issues, I'm just going to rely on the two EHDs and burn photos to disk to make sure I have an extra extra copy of those.

My old laptop only had a 40 GB HD, so I finally reached a point where I had to keep scrapping supplies on a portable EHD and back up to Mozy and another EHD. After 3 or 4 months of use I was seeing signs that the portable EHD just couldn't keep up with the demands I was placing on it and was going to fail.

My new laptop has a 200 GB HD, so I keep everything important directly on it. (That's partly so it will back up to Mozy and partly because I think HDs stand up to heavy usage a little better than EHDs.) All photos are saved on DVD and EHD, then the best ones from each month remain on the laptop HD. All flattened LOs and scrap supplies stay on the HD, too. I back up to Mozy frequently and to a 2nd EHD from time to time. I have some scrapping supplies that are only on one of the EHDs, but those are the older supplies that I don't want to delete but know I'll never use.

I currently keep EVERYTHING on my new computer 'cause it has a HUGE hard drive. I do back up to three different EHD's, including a little portable that holds all my photos and new kits. Whenever I leave for more than a day, I throw this in my purse. I'm terrified to losing everything in a freak accident.

Stash... I though you were talking about Candy!!! LOL

I have 2 EHD of 150 GB each and my day to day things in my HD
Plus 12 drawers for my hybrid stash (and one for candy... LOL)

I've currently got everything (pics only from the past 6 months or so but all my scrapping stuff) on my HD on my laptop since my stash isn't really that big yet. I really need to do a backup to my EHD since I've added so much scrapping stuff in the past couple months and I'm planning to subscribe to an online backup I just haven't taken the leap yet.
