Teenage trick or treaters

who put no effort into their costumes will only get Smarties or Nerds Or Laffy Taffy.

actually maybe that will go for all teenage trick or treaters.

LMAO it's 7:30 here, so a lot of the little ones are done now, and the big kids are out. I don't mind them too much actually if all the little ones are gone home, they help me get rid of my candy LOL.

I told my girls at skating today, they were too big to go out and not to come to my place, because I wouldn't give them anything LOL. But I was only joking, I told them to come a bit later, when I'd be desperate to get rid of stuff LOL

ETA I only have Doritos and Cheese puffs....not fun for teenagers anyway!

I found last year that the teenagers were the most polite. And I would rather them doing that then other up-to-no-good activities. LOL There isnt much to do in our city... esp for the teenagers, so I guess I dont mind.

It does sorta suck when there is no effort put into it.

I'm not typically a fan of the teenage trick or treaters either especially if they put no effort into a costume....I saw on our local news today that there is actually a town around here that is prohibiting teens older than the 8th grade from trick or treating unless they're special needs or taking a younger sibling trick or treating.

Okay, maybe i sounded mean.... BUT.. The teenagers around HERE, are up to no good, they scare the little kids, throw pumpkins at people, break them all over the street, steal bags of candy, tp houses, etc..

I agree with you Jess....there were a bunch that really scared Libby last year....makes me mad because it really takes the fun out of it for the littler kids.

Well this is the same thing here. There is nothing for them to do.

Wealso have some teenage trick or treaters who go door to door and collect canned goods for the food bank. I usually give them a full grocery bag. I absolutely LOVE that they do this.

as long as they have a costume on and aren't pushing or bothering the littler kids, then I think they should be trick or treating too. now the ones who don't dress up and think they deserve candy because they have a football shirt on, that I have a problem with.

Meems you are SO onery! LOL

I don't mind the big kids going as long as they have a costume. I don't like it when they have no costume or just regular clothes with a scary mask. Earn your candy you heathens!

I am SO glad that we don't T or T. Going to the Harvest Carnival at church really eliminates all this mess. I don't hand out candy, my kids don't go door to door. They only get a small bag of candy at the end of the night and they have LOADS of fun playing carnival games and playing with their friends all night. It is a win/win situation LOL.

Bwahahaha, Mimi. That was awesome.

When I was in high school, the grade 12's had to sell "halloween insurance" to people in town (it was a small town, lol) - if anyone got tp'd or egged or whatever and had the insurance (which went towards grad), the grade 12's had to clean it up. Let's just say that it didn't happen often, and if it did, the grade 12's wanted to know who did it. ;)

Please do not take offense to this...but try not to assume that all of them are teenagers. My son is just barely 11 and about 5 ft 5 and the other(who is not t.or t.) is almost 6ft and only 14 but has always been really big for his age too. Some of the kids who might look like teens are not teens they are just really big kids LOL Id hate to think that people are looking at my son and thinking he is to old to be trick-or-treating too as this is actually the first year he has wanted to go since he was born.

my teenager and his friends are going out tonight (I caved, but only because he has to babysit later). They are dressing up though, and have been told that if they are rude, and I find out about it, that will be the end of T&T for mine.

I'm sure that put a near stop to the tricks! what a great idea! and I'm sure those 12 graders would manage to find out just WHO did it!!

My 12 year old is taking her sister out. She is old enough to not really want to wear a costume, but I went ahead and bought her a Halloween shirt, long black wig, and witch hat. It's not a complete costume, but it's some effort. To be honest, I don't think she cares about getting candy, she just wants to take her sister out.

My 14 year old son wants the candy, but also wants to think he's too old for t-or-t. I'm guessing he'll pull on his football jersey and crazy fan mask and go out for a bit with his sisters....

Don't have to worry about rudeness with my kids because they're still so shy it's an effort to get out "trick or treat."

Aw ladies. This is saddening to me. I brought all of my kids tonight. Amanda is 14. I didn't get her a costume. She dressed up all funky in school spirit stuff. She made up her face with football stripes under her eyes and ribbons in her hair. She went to every door with her siblings but didn't take a bag. Bryan is 13. I didn't get him a costume either. He dressed in hubby's fire gear. He held doors for people and carried bags for his siblings when they got tired. Sara is 10. She was a witch. ( that was her costume) Natalie was Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Derek was a doctor. My kids had a bit of a scare today, what with the lock-down at school. So I probably would not have let them wander too far, but they never even tried. Not all teens are bad. And if they don't have a costume, it may be because they don't make good ones for a 14 year old.

aww, I didn't mean to make anyone feel bad :(. Heather, your kids sound like they did put effort into dressing up.

But I can't help it. To me 16/17+ is too old to be trick or treating. I feel weird giving them candy.

Heahter your kids made an effort. Your daughter & son got dressed up.

We got in waiting with a couple of groups of kids in regular clothes, just carrying plastic grocery bags, going door to door to get candy. Seriously. Not even face paint or a goofy mask. No small siblings. Not collecting canned goods or for Unicef, just getting candy in regular clothes adn jostling small kids out of the way to get it if adults weren't staring right at them. Thats the sort of stuff that bothers me. They aren't even trying to get into the spirit of the thing

Well your teenagers were with you and their siblings.

I think we're talking about the packs of 14-17 year olds out by themselves with no costumes, just big bags of candy.

I just figured out why I feel weird about teenagers trick or treating!

It's because they are taller than I am! So that is why I feel weird giving them candy.

I always have a few teenage trick or treaters and I'd say half of them actually put real effort into their outfits - one was a Twister game, while another was a gasoline can, another was The Joker (and not with just a mask). The teenagers are pretty tame around here because we have police cars patroling the neighborhood at random on Halloween night. I really like the teenagers that are actually walking around with their younger siblings but in costume too - you know they're good kids when they do that, that they actually care about their sibling. One "pack" of teenagers actually went up the stairs one at a time, each waiting until the other came back down before going - and when one didn't quite wait, the others chastised her. Good to see some manners amongst them. I did have one snarky girl who when I asked her what she was dressed as, she said "myself". I gave her the small Whoppers packet - and fortunately she was in the minority.

I do have to mention the one teenager I overheard talking to a lady handing out candy. He was dressed totally normally & she asked him who he was. He said "I'm Ponyboy from the Outsiders". Took me a minute to remember the book & make the connection and I think it did her too but if you can come up with a character like that when asked, I'll give you a handful of candy. :)

LOL, that's a good one!

I feel bad about my post earlier. I think I am just all about my big kids today since I had to hold my breath until they got out of lock down. To be honest, Amanda was hoping to stay home and pass out candy this year ( before this afternoon) and I wouldn't let her because of the teenaged trick or treaters who I wouln't want to know she was alone. We have a few in our neighborhood that I just can't stand.KWIM? It is sillly that my kids did put in the effort when I didn't.

I guess we are lucky then! There were a ton out but they were all polite. One was even dressed as the Burger King guy and would get candy at a house then run and put it in little kids buckets on his way to the next house.

My teen and a bunch of his friends went to Six Flags - IMO thats a great place for them!
