we don't even have one anymore; last year we had cats and they climbed up it and knocked it over so many times it wouldnt stand upright, lol. so i need to get a new one. unfortunately this stupid house has these freakishly low ceilings, like at or under 6 foot. so we can't have a tall one. my dad has an awesome one that my mom didnt take with her when she moved out, its gorgeous; it's fake but has a real wood trunk that smells real and has whit lights (hate colored) but its like 8 foot tall so i cant have it. :( But i told my dad to keep it because someday when i get my dreamhouse i'm so stealing it, lol. he doesn't care. he's not planning on even putting it up.
we'll probablly get one next month on the first.

day after thanksgiving. I have a fake tree but I think I am going to buy one of those tabletop ones. I just havent been much in a christmas mood the last few years. I want to do a tree this year though and cant really have those large ones because the cats knock them over and climb them. I figure with a small table-top I can do the tree like I want and not spend a fortune on decorations if I want to change it every year

We usually do ours the day after Thanksgiving here. But, we'll be out of town. So, we'll probably do ours on December 1st since we'll be getting home late the night before!

I love Christmas decorating!!! I have artificial trees, and we put them up the weekend after thanksgiving. I have two full size trees and two smaller ones.

we do a fake, pre-lit tree and it won't go up until after our little guy's b-day (Dec 10th) in a feeble attempt to keep the celebrations separate. it's tough making a b-day special when it's so close to xmas, but we do our best. thankfully he's still so young that it doesn't really matter much to him... but I'm sure it will down the road.

Jeff has a fake tree somewhere. We'll be at my parents' for Thanksgiving, but I think he has his son through the whole weekend, so I'd imagine we'd put it up that weekend once we got home.

We do it the day after Thanksgiving. I'm SO ready to start already though, what is wrong with me?

Ours broke last year too. Right after we finished opening presents I was sitting next to it putting together toys and it fell on me! LOL

I know Col. I hate it. Seems like it is earlier and earlier every year. Walmart started playing Christmas music ON HALLOWEEN.

I usually try to wait until the last moment to put up the tree since I know that DH will leave it up until May. (No, really. He took it down in May this year.:glare: ) My mom's going to be here for Thanksgiving though, so I'll have DH drag out the tree the day after so that she can enjoy decorating the tree with the boys. We're not going out there for Christmas this year, so this will have to suffice.

dude, i'm so ready for Christmas... but we'll wait until the day after thanksgiving.

We have low ceilings too, it stinks. I think they are 8ft. So our tree is like a 7' tree I think. One day I'll have a nice big full one.

I usually put ours up the Monday after the last weekend in November, but that will be December 1st...too late for me, so I'll probably put it up on the 28th since the girls will be going with my MIL overnight. I have to put up my MILs too and because she needs (wants) everything decorated before her Flying Club party (which isn't even at her house), I'll probably end up doing hers mid-November. She makes excuses why she needs her stuff up so early, but I know she's just excited LOL

The weekend after Thanksgiving most likely.

Corey, you should get a table-top tree - it'll be easier to store and put up and you can put up cat obstacles easier.

We always go out the day after Thanksgiving and cut it down and then decorate it that weekend. But this year we are doing it the weekend before. It's DS #1's birthday the 23rd and he wants to go Christmas tree hunting...... a tree hunting we will go!!!!

We usually put ours up the day after Thanksgiving or that weekend depending on what we have going on. Ours is artificial though so we usually keep it up til sometime during the week between Christmas & New Years.

My Dad and Stepmom get a real tree every year (sometimes 2 since they have a huge house) and their main tree is always around 20ft tall!! They have really really high ceilings and it always takes several people to get the thing in the house and set up and then it takes a huge ladder and all day long to decorate it! I really need to remember to take photos of it this year now that I have a lens that's wide enough to get the entire tree in the picture!

I'm aiming for the week of Thanksgiving with everything being done by the Monday after, who knows maybe I'll start earlier. We have a new house this year and I want to put at least a little themed tree in each room. I'm going to have to get "crafty" to pull that off. LOL!

We put ours up the first weekend in December. It's just a pre-lit 3 foot tree. We keep meaning to buy a big one but then come up with one reason after another to put it off for year. This year the excuse is that we will be in Florida for the Xmas holidays. Next year I expect we 'won't find room' for it.

whew. I have a kindred odd ball so I can finally answer the question! LOL  I'm starting this weekend too. the thing is, I do more than just mine. Ooh it's our tradition to go cut a fresh tree the first day after Thanksgiving. But the fresh Christmas tree pickins down here are slim. So we go to the lot and get a nice tree shortly after turkey day.

I usually put it up the day after thanksgiving, but here in Utah you have to use a fake tree if you want to do that. Last year I was homesick for a real tree (we moved here from Oregon 9 yrs ago) so we got one then. and it dried out no matter what I did and was so bad christmas eve that ok this i the pathetic part. I ran out to the store and the local lot had all the leftover trees for 5 bucks each. SOOO I bought one - undecorated the old tree and re decorated the new one on Christmas eve :D

This year I want the real one again so we are waiting till the second weekend in Dec. Which is making me a little sad. We don't have family room or anything to put 2 trees up. But I am trying to figure out a way to do it anyway and would put up our fake tree with all the kids ornaments the day after thanksgiving.

Since I live in Holland now and DH is Dutch we wait until after Sinterklaas (Dec 5) to put the tree up...but it has to be up by my birthday (Dec 8) or by the day of my party, whichever comes first. So this year it's going up on the 6th.

I have a little table top tree and usually don't put it up until the 1st week of December, but I'm not so sure about this year. My youngest DGS is 18 months old now and he is a little cyclone of terror!! He doesn't like or care to listen to the word "no" so I'm not so sure it will survive him since I take care of him everyday!

I like to have my trees up before Thanksgiving so that I can really enjoy Thanksgiving and all of the Christmas season. My mom is a complete nutjob and has at least one tree in every single room of her 7000sq ft house (including all seven bathrooms!)... and it's already halfway done! :) We are going to visit her next week and she wanted it to be decorated for my kids to see since we won't be there for Christmas AGAIN this year (three years in a row!). My house is 750 square feet and there will be one full-size tree in the family room, a thin craft-style tree in the family room or kitchen, as well as a tabletop tree in the girls' room. And there will be a tiny tree in the bathroom! I am so excited to start decorating. And I am even more excited that I get to go through all my old crap and get rid of stuff!

Ours usually goes up the 1st December along with all the house decorations. The last two years it has gone up early undecorated, so that me neice can decorate it when she comes. I have her every Friday. Unfortunatley so has to have the smame kind of decorations together so I end up redecorating it after she goes.

Trees? Why does this always happen so fast, I'm still eating Halloween candy. Not until the day after Thanksgiving of course.
This year I get to decorate because this year it is MY HOUSE and not a rented dump. I am going to go all out redneck-griswald style. I'll consider taking pictures but don't want to break my camera lense with the lights and bling :D :D :D :D

I was really looking forward to getting our tree - probably 1st weekend in December - but now I'm rethinking it. Last year we didn't get one because we spent Christmas in Utah with my parents. This year, since I am due December 29th, we are staying close to home. However, I babysit a 9 month old baby and I know DS would totally respect the tree, but I don't feel like say "no" 80 times a day to keep the baby away from the tree. IDK what to do!

Oh Amy if you're doing it Griswald style, you HAVE to take pictures!! LOL!!

no no no no. NOT griswold at ALL. tomorrow I will upload pics of last years stuff somewhere for you to see. I do it pretty classy..at least I think so. I have people that pay me just to do the lights on their trees. It's time consuming is all, and with my job I can't devote whole days at a time to this stuff so I have to fit it in in spurts. I may start mine this weekend but probably won't be completely done till Thanksgiving. Too..my son's birthday is on the 24th, my dh's is the 23rd and my mom's is the 26th and our weddng anniversary is the 30th...all of which usually falls right around thanksgiving and I want to spend my time enjoying those things not frantically decorating. And my son loves the fact that the house is chrstimasssy for his b-day :P

**editted, oh THAT amy is being a redneck? why am I not surprised? ROFL just kidding. But I did feel like I needed to explain the back story a bit of why I do it so early so people don't think I have well and truly gone off the rocker. Besides, DSD is going to be down next week. What ELSE is there to do???? ROFL **

Amy- do not worry. Hubby is going to keep an eye on me and the breaker box. LOL. We had a pre-lit tree that he bought on our first Christmas together. It was all sentimental and tore up and lights blown and stuff, but I loved it and somehow it magically disappeared when we moved this summer. I must take revenge and put tacky lights on everything. No colored ones though, I'm spastic enough without having to look at those things. I'm just a product of my raisin' I say hey y'all and yehhawww. But I'll take the Christmas lights down and not leave them on the front porch all year long. I still know all the words to every old Bosephus song
