Just a Scrapper
Backstory - my grandmother fell and broke her hip in may and is no longer able to live on her own and is now in a nursing facility by me. We moved her clothing contents a few weeks ago, to sort through what she will and won't be able to wear in the future.
We've been trying to find a charity like Dress for Success (a charity that provides business attire for disadvantaged women for job interviews, etc)., and no one wants them
It's just sad because they're great clothes that just don't meet consignment shop desires around here (not label enough and older than 18 months), and we really wanted to give them to the charity, but they won't take them. Now I don't know what to do with them and would HATE to think of them ending up at Goodwill.
I'm probably going to end up calling churches around here if there is a ministry for this clothing, but I am just sad. She doesn't have much and really wanted to be able to do this with her clothing, so just sad that in a time where people are really going to be struggling and needing to find jobs, something we can do to help doesn't seem to be working. I understand that the place probably is overrun with clothing. It's just not working out as we'd hoped.
UPDATE!
Dude - how cool - we just got a call from someone we had TOTALLY forgotten about - we do have a shelter here in our county - but also a charity locally doing exactly what we wanted to have done - and I'd totally forgotten about them - but someone had called and connected us up! Amazing how this stuff works!
