To preface this, know I keep very late hours and don't get up till early afternoon, lol.
DH comes in and wakes me up to tell me a) nascar pre race coverage's on and b) the computer is acting funny (and proceeds to tell me what he'd done and had had to do to shut it down. Oh joy  .
So I get up, turn on the machine and get this error message that boiled down to, your bios is in need of being reinstalled. ISP tech support's called and that's what he told me that long error message meant and i proceed to call Dell tech support.
I've a special number I can call that's for QVC customers as it's where we bought it. First time through, it doesn't accept that i want option 1. So I had to do it again and it finally gets it. They connect me to Dell tech support. Operator takes my info, transfers the call and all I get is a hum. Something went wrong with that transition. I take a deep breath and go thru all that crap again and finally get through, lol.
This has a happy ending (obvioiusly, lol). Turns out all that was needed was to have a bios update run. Joy and happiness are mine, it's "all" it took (after 2 hours and a dying cell phone battery). My computer is now a happy camper once more.
I really had visions of having to hook up the lap top, installing everything again, including norton, etc, re doing bookmarks and passwords from scratch. Unhappy visions, but at least I'd have had access to a computer, lol.
So I'm here, online, and it's all that counts, lol. And ty for getting through all of this, lol.
