View Full Version : Prayers, please?

I need some prayers for my grandparents. :( They are my entire world...I can't begin to explain how close we are. Last Thursday night, my Granddaddy was taken by ambulance to the hospital for chest pains/irregular and thready heartbeat. Some tests came back abnormally, but they got him regulated with meds and sent him home early Fri. morning. Saturday night, same situation, but he drove himself this time. :( :( :( Luckily their across the street neighbor saw them leaving and called us. Another night in the ER, more irregular tests, but again, meds regulated everything and they released him early Sun. morning. Monday he saw a cardiologist for a work up and further tests and yesterday he had a stress test (took 5 hours!). He also has a take home monitor to wear until tomorrow. He gets all his results on Friday, but has been instructed to call 911 at the first sign of any further problems until he goes back for results. I've been with them through most all of it. I'm exhausted...I've cried more than I thought possible and I'm just a mess. My poor grandmother is beside herself. He has been the picture of health and has never had the first problem. This is all out of the blue. We have no idea what the results will show, but obviously we're all scared out of our minds.

I wouldn't normally post something like this, but at this point, the more prayers we have, the better. Of course our church and several groups are praying, but I knew you ladies would understand. So, if you pray, would you please send up a few for him and for my Gran? And if you don't, any postive thoughts would be appreciated as well.

Thanks for letting me ramble...

(((HUGS)) Jennifer - do they have him on beta blockers now? It took my Dad a little while to adjust to them for them to work...but they're great in situations like this if that's what they've been giving him.

We will definitely keep you in our prayers.

Darcy, I'm not totally sure. The new med is called Cardizem and it's a Calcium Channel Blocker. However, it somehow reacts with one of his current meds for BP, so they're not sure exactly what to "stick with" as far as meds go until his tests come back. I'm praying that whatever this is can be treated with meds only. That would be such a blessing for us.

Thank you all for you P and PTs. It's amazing how knowing that other people are praying with you can make you feel lighter.

Sending lots of positive thoughts! It's so hard when people who have always been healthy suddenly start having potentially serious health problems. I hope they figure out what's going on quickly and get him on the right meds.

Many ((hugs)) for you and your grandparents. It's so hard to go through them having any health issues, I think for me, I was always in denial that they were getting older.

I'll be thinking about you all.

I can understand! This happened to my dad who was living alone...and they did the same thing to him. It was a good step to take...they were able to really get an idea of what was going on with his heart and help him. He did end up getting a pace maker...but said he felt so much better afterwards...he hadn't realized how bad he was feeling...until they helped him.

Here's hoping all comes out fine for your grand daddy too!
