*UPDATE* UGH! Back to the hospital....

So, most of you remember DH ended up in the ER last week with appendicitis and needed surgery. Well, this afternoon he spiked a 104 fever and was having chills... so back to the ER we went. They're not sure yet what is going on, but he'll go in for a CT scan in about a half hour and they're testing him for all sorts of stuff.... and the surgeons are going to talk to him. Sounds like it might be an abcess and they'll have to open him up again. :( I'm here at home because I packed Allie up and sent her to her Grandma's house for the night. Now I'm off to the hospital again and I'm bringing my lappy with me! Yay for wifi. ;)

Prayers and good thoughts please. This has been a really rough month.

UPDATE:

Good news: He doesn't need surgery! YAY!

Bad News: He has a large abcess which requires him to stay in the hospital for at least THREE DAYS while they pump him full of antibiotics. Oh goodness. I get ill thinking what we may end up paying for this.... :(

I already said so elsewhere, but Tyrel (and you and Allie!) and definitely in my prayers right now! I'm hoping everything gets worked out quickly and Tyrel's back up and around (and feeling great!) in no time!

Awww (((hugs))) I'm so sorry he is back in the hospital again. I hope they figure out what the problem is and that he's back to normal again real soon! Sending prayers up!

Oh that's good news that he doesn't need surgery Megan! I hope he feels better soon! I am not sure what your insurance situation is but I know that a lot of hospitals make board decisions to waive payments for certain cases so you could look in to that.

I'm glad he doesn't need surgery but I'm sorry he has to be in the hospital for a few days. I hope they can work out a payment plan with you.

OMGosh! I don't know how I missed this the other day, but my husband went through this about this same time last year and it was so scary!

He had had pains in his abdomen for a while and thought maybe it was a hernia. He got it checked and the doctor said, "no hernia. Man, I don't get to operate." (Ya know, doctors want to operate for the $$.)

Anyway, he ended up going to our family nurse pract. who thought it might be diverticulitis (sp?), but sent him for a CT scan just to be sure. It ended up being extreme appendicitis and had already burst a couple of days before!! He had to go into emergency surgery (and his surgeon was actually the one he had seen before who was disappointed that he didn't get to operate!!). It was pretty rough for a few days, 'cause the surgery was a little hairy due to the his appendix being larger and more attached to other things inside because of the abcess.

Anyway, he never got back to feeling normal, but thought it was normal to not feel normal, ya know.

He had a conference in Louisville a few weeks later and thought he was okay to go. He went and ended up in the emergency room in Louisville. He almost died during the CT scan there because they put iodine in his IV which stopped him from breathing. Thankfully, they immediately got him breathing again. I'm at home, worried to death 'cause my husband's in the ER in another state! He didn't even tell me about the almost-dying-during-the-CT part until the next day. Anyway, the CT was fine, he just had a bad infection. They ended up putting him on some pretty major anitibiotics and sent him on his way after that night in the hospital. He took a cab straight from the hospital back to the last couple sessions of the conference (crazy man!) and came home the following day.

It was so stressful, but those antiobotics took care of everything. Just really watch him!

I hope your hubby recovers fully soon! I certainly know what you guys are going through!

(sorry this turned into a novel) :)

Kresta, that sounds awful!!! Tyrel's pains started around midnight last Sunday and by late afternoon on Monday he was already in surgery for it. I'm so glad they diagnosed him so quickly... I know it could have been MUCH worse had the appendix burst before they operated.

Ohmygoodness, Megan!! I'm relieved for you that he doesn't need surgery but ugh about the hospital stay. I hope the meds do their thing quickly and he's back to feeling better and a full recovery! ((hugs)) and prayers headed your way!

Glad he doesn't need sugery, but I"m sorry about the hostipal stay. DH spent four days in the hospital two summers ago and it was NOT cheap. Luckily, hospitals are pretty good about setting up a payment plan with you and THANK GOD for insurance.

Your hubby will be in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
