I'm assuming that the *duck* means you are serious, LA, that you don't know what we are referring to (don't worry, my DH wouldn't know what was being referred to here either). If so, then the references are to "Space Oddity" one of the best David Bowie songs from the 70s. Major Tom was a fictional astronaut and the main character from this song and re-appeared not only in other later Bowie songs (such as "Ashes to Ashes") but also other songs (like Peter Schilling's 80s hit "Major Tom (Coming Home)").
