shards of glass and purple poison

oh my cod just LOP them off!!!! that familiar pain began again last night and I just knew I was about to battle my 2nd round of thrush with Parker. We had a hard time when he was 4 weeks old. Nystatin suspension did nothing and I ended up using Gentian Violet.

FF to last night when that familiar pain snuck back up on my left breast...the pain that is best described as trying to pass shards of glass through your nipple....and today I went on the prowl for more GV to cure us...skipping the doctor's visit and Nystatin completely. Rite Aid said they could get it in by Monday, Body & Soul closed down, GNC wouldn't answer the phone at all, and Healthfoods Unlimited said I'd have to order it online. I wanted to sing the Hallelujah Chorus when CVS said they had it in stock. I went to buy it and some q-tips to give Parker his first dose and the pharmacist, who appeared to be a 12 year old wunderkind, says, "Ma'am? (see, because at 28 I'm clearly his elder) Ma'am is that for thrush?" I say, "why yes it is." He then proceeds to let me know that gentian violet is not indicated for oral use, that it is a poison and I shouldn't let my child ingest it.

I smile, thank him, and proceed to dip a q-tip into the container of purple poison and swab my child's mouth with it AND my nipples...right there in the CVS parking lot.

the pharmacist can bite me, as can anyone who got to see what the stork saw.

I want to just remove them and throw them in the garbage.

I. Hurt. So. Bad.

:(

The good news? My new nursing bra, my favorite shirt and Parker's new pj's are all stained purple (this all happened today whilst I was traveling, mind you.....5 hours for a 3 hour drive)

Wow, I'm just a bitter broad today. Thanks for listening.

Im sorry. My son had thrush but I only breastfed him at night so I didnt get what you are describing. It really does suck for them though. He couldnt eat anything while he had it.
