I spent all day in the city trying to get stuff for a gift for a baby shower that I found out about LAST night, that is tomorrow. Sure the baby is a month old already, but that's not the point - I knew about the shower but nobody specifically said I was invited until last night.

SO anyway...I'm like, well I'll decorate a paint can and whip up some onesies and then they'll have something that they can't get from someone else. So off to the city we go to get some onesies and iron transfer paper and then I decided to make those cake ball thingies too because I'm supposed to bring something to eat as well. Well at M's, the paint can looked too small, so I thought I'd just go get one at Home Depot. Except HD only has the really big ones, which is WAY too big for 3 little onesies! I decided though that I'd rip apart one of the paint cans I've got in my office so I'd have something to put it in.

Also, the EHD where all my kits are is not working right now so I'm like...oh well, I'll just buy the kit again that I want to use...I'd already bought it (and used it) but I just paid the $10 again for it, no biggie.

So I get to work ironing these babies on...the first one doesn't look like it worked quite right, so I put the backing on in again and ironed it for a few more seconds. OK, well THAT wasn't the right thing to do...it lifted half of it off! Grrr...so I'm down to 2 onesies as the gift (because the SMART thing to do would have been to buy a couple packages in case I screwed up, but I didn't think of that until I got home). The second one turned out kinda cute...the one on the butt would probably come off in the wash but I thought if it set for a bit it would be OK. Then I did the 3rd one and the transfer on the butt tore a little and then the big one on the front TOTALLY screwed up! :(

I'm just going to skip the shower. I can't go without a gift, and have nowhere to get something before 1pm tomorrow. Besides that, the cake balls will probably turn out like crap.

Someone PLEASE tell me why I bother with this stuff. It never works for me. :(

I'm going to go to bed and read for the rest of the night. Cause now I'm grumpy, lol.

You know that the only reason they didn't turn out was because you NEEDED them too right? Murphy at his finest (or his dirtiest...)!

Ahh, thanks girls. I went and pouted in bed for a few hours and I feel better now. Yes, I'm 27 and I go pout when I don't get my way...lol.

Anyhow, not sure I'm going to attempt these again...at least not with the transfer sheets that I bought. I may try a different brand and see if they work better. I have 3 babies to get gifts for and want them to be something cute and unique, kwim...

What brand did you buy Bree? I use the Avery 3271 Ink Jet T-Shirt Transfers and they work great!

Ugh, so sorry Bree! It's so frustrating when you try to do something extra special and it just doesn't work!

And I completely feel on the last minute invite...although I had 5 days for the baby shower I went to yesterday, but they wanted all organic/eco-friendly stuff...and made the shower for 2 people, one person who only the host and my preggo friend knew...and then the girl didn't show up!! So I made a gift (canvas book bag filled with kids books, with personalized iron-on transfers that also were a pain in the booty!) for someone I didn't even know and she didn't make an appearance...I took my gift home! LOL

Sorry you won't even get to go to the shower now! :(

I tried the Wilton brand ones - M's only had 2 types and I *should* have gone and got them at Staples but I needed a couple of other things there. They had just regular t-shirt transfers (Wilton brand) and then another brand that was for stretchy material - which a baby's onesie would be, lol - but the Wilton had 10 sheets for $16 and the other was 3 sheets for $16 - so cheaper won out. Lesson learned. :p
