You'd think it was mosquito season...

I am so freaking itchy!!!!! On Saturday evening I jumped in the bath and my legs and feet felt like they were on fire, so super itchy. I'm scratching and scratching, and then I notice in the places its itchy, there are tiny red bumps. I had 6.

Today I counted again because it was even worse, and I have 30!! They are small, look like mosquito bites (which is not possible, as we have 1/2 foot of snow). A spider in the bed wouldn't make THIS many bites, and DH doesn't have any either.

I have NO idea what it is, but I'm going to the doctor's today. I can't stand it anymore! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

Uh... is it possible that its bed bugs? They tend to leave small, red bite marks that itch a lot. If it is bedbugs, their bites will tend to be in lines or groups on your body and usually on your legs and torso. Do you have a piece of furniture that has been outdoors or in a garage/shed? Or have you come into a new piece of used furniture perhaps? I know the idea of bedbugs is creepy, but you'll want to know if thats what they are so you can get rid of them ASAP.

I had the exact same thing happen to me a while back. Only I got bitten, even when Jordan was in bed with me. We found no evidence of bed bugs, but couldn't figure out anything else either. It stopped when we moved to a different house (so we knew it wasn't bed bugs then because the bed was the same). Totally weird, but I never went to a dr for it.

I hope you can figure out what it is!

My first thought was bed bugs too, but we haven't come into contact with anything that could have brought them into the house. No old furniture or anything that was outside... I ripped open the bed and didn't see anything in there either (how small are bed bugs... I think they are small but you can still see them?). I hope the doctor has answers cause I'm going insane, lol!

They're small, but they leave evidence behind. They poop, and shed, and leave spots of blood. It basically looks filthy if you have them. They usually hang out in the box spring.

OMG...I think I just threw up a little................as I go running to check all our beds just in case!!!!

EEEWWWW! I hope for your sake that it isn't bed bugs - this sounds horrible. But I do hope that the doc can shed some light on it.

Do you have a pet? Could it be flea bites? IMO that would be a bit better than bed bugs since you can bomb the house and bathe the animal and be good to go, how do you get rid of bed bugs? A new bed?

No, they have to fumigate because bed bugs hide all over the house and you can take them with you to other people's places in your luggage, etc. They're awful nasty things.

Yea a new bed, AND like bree said, fumigate. And the stuff they have to fumigate with is AWFUL. You can't do it yourself because it's so toxic (can you tell I did a lot of research on this when I thought I had them, lol!), you have to have someone come in and do it and you can't be in your house for a really long time either if I remember correctly.

could it be chiggers? Or poison ivy? Maybe an allergic reaction to something? I get wierd skin reactions ALOT!! My husband was using this lotion that a pharmacist recomended because the work he does dries his hands out really bad and I had semi dry hands. So he said to try the lotion. It was just a hand cream with alpha hydroxy something or other like that and it turned my hands bright RED!! They burned and itched really badly. I called the pharmacy and she told me it should not do that but to wash my hands really well and call the doctor if it did not get better. It did but took a few days. Needless to say I have to be really careful. Even something as simple as a tag in a shirt can cause me to break out. If it itches really badly though you could apply some hydrocortizone cream to help along with aloe.

So I went to the doctor, and got no answers. I got a prescription for an antihistamine (sp?), but I'm not going to fill it. I think he just wrote it out so he'd get some $$, haha! He also told me to rub Benedryl cream on them to stop the itching, so I've got to go get some of that.

He looked at my bumps, asked if I had an animal, I said I had a cat, and he thought they *might* be flea bites... but my cat doesn't have fleas as far as I know or can tell. Might get her a flea collar just in case, but she's not itchy or showing any signs of them. Plus if she had fleas, then DH and my DD would have the bites too, not just me. He also asked if I had a water softener (which I do), but never told my why he asked. Strange.

Yeah, so I'm no closer to discovering what's causing the darn little bumps.... thankfully they aren't itching right now!

Oh, and about the bed bugs.... that is just gross. I'm 100% positive thats not the cause.

And it can't be poison ivy. It doesn't grow here normally, I haven't been anywhere near any... especially cause I don't go outside very often and there's about a foot of snow on the ground, lol!

why don't you just take benadryl as prescribed on the bottle and see if it helps?

I might just do that! It seems like a cheaper route than a prescription (and one that's going to make me drowsy... ugh).

whats the active ingredient in the RX? it's prob prescription strength benadryl. whatever you try, i hope it helps. hives can come and go as they want for no reason what so ever.

Meh, I didn't bother filling the scrip. I very rarely do. If they don't tell me what its for, or why I NEED it, then I don't fill it, haha. I'll probably zip out to the pharmacy now that DH is home and get regular old cheap Benadryl.
