We spend about $100-150 per kid. But, I start in October, so I am usually finished by the first of December.
I only have one child so we don't have to spend as much as other people might. Maybe $300 tops, and I'm hoping to keep it around $250. I don't wann spend that much but I did promise her the Nintendo DS and that's no fun without games. We don't have a lot of other people to buy for. Most of the adults we know just don't get presents for each other or we ask to donate to charity.

This year, about $600. We didn't get anything for ourselves, so that's for the kiddos plus immediate family (3 sets of parents, 4 sets of grandparents, siblings)

This poll would be easier if it was on a per person basis versus overall. I think I spend about $15 per person.

We usually end up spending between $1000-$1500. That's total though, our 2 kids, each other, my parents, his mom, my two brothers, SIL and niece & nephew. I think that's not so bad.

do you mean total, everyone including immediate family and extended family?
Here's who we buy for...
each other (me and jeff, $25 limit this year since we did a "family" gift of a Wii)
our sons (two boys)
Jeff's neices (two girls)
my cousin's sons (two boys)
two adult members of my family ($50)
two adult members of Jeff's family ($25)
So, total is about $500-$550.

If I add in DH's new laptop, it's $2000 or more. This was a big present year this year, we normally spend around $300 total. With the Wii, games, clothes for the boys (JP had not one stitch of winter clothing when he moved here in June--he'd been living in SC for two years.), and other things...this year was crazy.
Next year, they're all getting coal. If they want something better, they can find a way to make diamonds out of that coal.

Well, since I am getting a new lens and Billy is getting a pistol our budget is much higher this year.
I haven't added up the total yet. Kinda scared.

We are spending about $125 each for gifts & stocking stuffers for our 3 kids this year and DH & I don't exchange gifts (we just do stockings for each other with a few small items). And then I make gifts for the grandparents and great-grandparents so hopefully our total will be under $450.

Leila, last year was our year for BIG gifts. Our anniversary is in March and last year was our 15th, so we combined christmas and anniversary. I got a new wedding ring and DH got the down payment for his new Jeep Wrangler. LOL

I have no clue. FI and I have not combined our incomes yet, so I don't know exactly how much he spent on his son or family members. I would guess a couple hundred.
His guitar is $200something, but it's on a payment plan, so that was only $83 to start. We haven't gotten my Ipod yet.
I will likely spend $200 - $250 on his stocking stuffers, a couple toys for Tyler, my mom's birthday, and Christmas presents for my mom, my dad, my sister, my nephew, my BIL, and my two grandmothers.

Leila the coal comment cracked me up!!
I buy for Jordan, my brother and sister, and my parents (twice cuz we do a joint gift from the kids and then Jordan and I get them something else as well). Jordan takes care of his family. I usually make something small for friends (this year it's a small notepad with a matching set of cards). TOTAL this year should be around $500 for everyone.

Our anniversary (and Andrew's birthday) are March 22. I'm still waiting for the promised present of a romantic kidless night that HE plans from start to finish, including babysitter. I might see that for our 50th in 2052. :p

I'm at a complete loss this year, this is my second year not working and so I have none of my "own" money to buy dh a gift with. I've spent only about $130 on the boys (we haven't finished shopping yet) and we'll spend about $100 on friends and family, plus traveling expenses. (we have an 8 hour drive ahead of us)
I hate that I have to "ask" dh for money to buy his xmas gift with.
Usually about $500, but this year more like $250 or less.

I answered before I checked poll results and now I feel like giant arse.
I picked $1250-
In my defense, I do have 5 kids. LOL

Mine is in the $1000 range usually. This year it might be a bit less. That is for everyone though... both kids, Jeff, my parents, my brother, SIL, niece, both cousins, my aunt, my uncle, my cousin's husband and cousin's boyfriend.
I spend less than $50 for each of my two kids.
I also spend about $20 for each of my nieces and nephew - 4 total.
We only do adult presents with my DH's family - my side just does presents for the kids. I'd say we spend another $20-30 per person for DH's parents, sister and brother.
Total - roughly $200
It seems higher, though, because between November 1 and January 31, we also have both of my sons' birthdays, 2 of my nieces, my nephew, my brother, my dad and my father-in-law. So it's probably double that during those three months, but only half of the total is Christmas.

We spend almost $800 dollars this year so I voted $750-$1250. But we never ever spend that much it's usually closer to about $150 per kid ( give or take $50 bucks). And in actuality $550 of that was on 3 Nintendo DS's and 3 Cases and we didn't really pay that $$....it was all trade in stuff so I tell myself we really only spent about $250 bucks!! I probably also spent another $50 to $75 on extended family gifts (photo books and calenders)!

I think we'll wind up around $250, not including the gifts that hubby bought for himself.
We're buying for Rachel, DH's 3 adult daughters, one granddaughter, my mom, and Sharon Kay.
DH bought himself a new computer a month or so ago, and got a GPS on Black Friday, so he's considering those his gifts. Fine by me, since I'm a SAHM and would have to get money FROM him to buy his gifts. I told him he should just wait on my present until after the holidays when cash isn't so tight.

We do about $100-$150 per kid (but that includes Josiah's bday presents that we buy on black friday - his bday is 1/6)
Then another $100 or so on each other..we have a big extended family that's about $25 each so we end up spending close to $800 all together..maybe a little more..

I answered less theen 250 because I do not spend much over that. I try to keep it around 100 a kid and I have three children but usually spend around 75-90 per child.

Our budget is $400. That's both kids, my parents, my neices, nephew and the kids of some close friends plus DH & I if there is any left over. I set money aside every month towards it and start shopping in September/October.
I found an excellent deal on a Flip Mino HD for DH but it put me over budget and DH will probably decide at the last minute he wants to do gift bags for our friends (every year we all agree no gifts for adult and every year we all cave). He buys liquor and to the best of my knowledge he hasn't bought me anything yet, so it will probably end up being about $550 this year.

Oh and I only buy for kids in our family plus my husbands parents. So about 25-40 for the parents in a gift card for a restaurant and then about 10 per child so 60 there so that adds right at 100 more. My husband and I rarely buy for each other until after Christmas. Usually get something weve wanted all year when we get our income tax return in January/February

we normally spend about $200 each kiddo (give or take a little, some might be a little less, some might be a little more).
We rarely buy for other family members, prefer to do photo gifts for the family (since I can do that from home). Although it now appears (as of 2pm yesterday) that we are going "home" for Christmas this year, meaning I may have to get something for everyone. lol

I can easily spend $1750+ on Christmas..we also have 5 kids and 2 of them are getting older and becoming harder/more expensive to buy for. I don't spend more than $150/kid, then we buy for DH's parents, My grandparents, my 5 nieces/nephews, Bro/SIL, Sis/BIL, my SIL/her DH (DH's sister and her hubby). The rest we just send cards/gift cards too since they don't come down.

I would say the most I will spend per person i less than 200..but annually it is int 300-600 range for all the family and friends.

I'm just going to say too much and leave it at that! I'm trying to do less last minute stuff which always adds up. The kids want pricer items this year so they (and I) need to remember that means less boxes under the tree! lol

Same!! I feel horrible when I get the 4yr old a bunch of cheaper things under the tree and my oldest has 3 boxes b/c at least one is a $$$ gift...its hard b/c i try to be "fair" when in reality it's still hard to make a kid understand how her 3 things add up to way more than so and so's 8 things..etc lol

We spend a lot. But Tony and I tend to buy each other expensive techie things for Christmas, like I got Tony a Speedlight and a lens for his camera...those two things were over 1000 bucks alone. That's not even the kids stuff. It gets expensive here, and I try to even out what I spend on the kids $$ wise.

We get off pretty cheaply. We spend about $100 on each of the kids, then I do photo calendars and other photo-type gifts for all the grandparents, great grandparents, and aunts and uncles (8 people). All of that comes to about $350 or so including the kids.
Some years DH and I exchange small gifts, and other years we wait and get something larger together when we get our income tax return. This year we just bought some baby stuff and will be busy with the new baby, so we'll probably wait. (Poor DD--I didn't buy her anything for the holidays. One day of Hanukkah can be her new room decorations, another can be the new car seat, the monitor, the outfits, etc. If I have time I'll probably get her one or two new toys, but she'll be too young to know or care and the truth is that we have plenty of newborn toys already. Luckily her grandparents and aunt and uncle will probably spoil her for her first Hanukkah!)

I guess we spend about $1200 in all.
My brothers, parents, inlaws and sil we spend like $25 each, this year it was more like $50 each for my inlaws because we exchanged gifts early when they were here last month.
The kids I spend $300 each, but I also save $50 every two weeks, usually about $100 of that is clothes, but Keira didn't get clothes this year because I sold a ton of her baby clothes on Craig's list and bought early for her.
Sean and I set a $200 each limit, but we also have to get our stocking stuffers and x-mas pj's out of that too, and we try to pick a gift for each other that counts as something from Keira & Cooper.

I think we pretty much spent about 900 dollars (did the conversion), that is basically just for the kids since we don't really do presents for each other or family.....

I spend too much!
I tend to spend around $300 on DH and he'll spend the same on me, $500 on the kids, about $200 on my mom, $100 on the inlaws, another $150 on nieces and nephews, then there are other family and friends I buy for and I would guess maybe another $250 total on them so I guess I should have chosen the $1750 or more but I picked the $1250-1750 cause I hadn't added it up before I voted. Now that I have I think I need to cut back on my spending!

I spent about $150 on my son, $40 on each set of parents (3 since I have steps), $15 on my grandparents, my 5 nieces and dh's niece and nephew and 1 cousin that are still under 18, $130 on my brother (I usually spend $50, but I put his birthday present in with it and a bit extra for the extra help he gave me last year when I needed it), $50 on my sister, $25 each on my 3 step-sisters and their husbands, $50 on my cousin/best friend, $25 on my other friend and then $15 on their 3 kids. About $100 on my dh. I have no idea what he is spending cause he better be spending more than my $100, he owes me. ;) I guess that's about $900. Opps, I thought it was a lot less and clicked the one right below that. I start shopping in like July, so it totally gets spread out and I never realize how much I spend. :p

We spend differently each year depending on what we have. Last year we spent about $600 (total) and this year will only be about $200. We only buy for our kids, my baby sister, and my step-niece though. We bought for eachother last year but it actually doesn't look like we'll be doing that this year. C'est la vie.
