Do you remember all those robotic layouts I did for the BEST Robotics? Well we got back from Ft Smith Arkansas last weekend ... first year competing and placed 14th out of 40 teams...I thought that was really good for a first year team. I took something like 530 pictures on game day...plus all the other ones from the weekend for a total of about 700-750. I just got them downloaded the other night and renamed. I have not scrapped them yet. Of course not all of them will be scrapped. lol We have a Christmas party get together scheduled for next Saturday so I am going to try to get the album finished in time.

We were so busy with BEST Robotics (middle school & high school students) that we didn't have time to fund raise for FIRST Robotics (high school). The entry fee and robot kit is $6,000!! We only came up with part of it. We just found out today that FIRST is going to give our team the rest of the money so we can compete!!! WOW!! :w00t:

So now....we can rest until January 3rd when the official kick off is...then we start into another 6-8 week of flurried frenzy!!

I'm going to need ANOTHER robot kit!! Pretty please!!! I can give ideas! I have 6 robotic kits from Sweet Shoppe...but can use more! Possible different idea would be a metal grunge kit...lots of metals?

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who has a child that could be on a BEST, FIRST, or LEGO League robotics team...Say YES to your child!! It's a fantastic learning experience and amazing what these children will learn through robotics!!

that's great news about placing so well and getting the rest of the entry fee for the FIRST team. congrats!

SHARON! I *live* in Ft Smith! I wish I'd known you were here! Small world!

I had the mini van wandering the city that had a scrolling license plate frame that says "Robots Rule!" etc etc. lol I wish I had known....Stacy (pewtertm) drove in from Oklahoma to meet us there...you could have caught both of us! Hopefully next year we will make it to Regional competition and have a chance to meet you!

That's wonderful news, Sharon!

Although not overtly robotic in nature, this kit in the shoppe came to mind.

hey that kit would give a more "older" look to the robot layouts! In fact...I think it would work for my son's senior year when he competed in FIRST Robotics...I was wanting something a little older for his layouts! Okay that is now on my wish list!!! Thanks for the recommendation!
