The Tale of Despereaux Movie

Has anyone seen this yet? I'd love to hear your thoughts about it! The kids have been bugging to see it but my husband heard a lot of bad reviews about it.

We saw it and I really loved it, but I wouldn't recommend it for young kids. It just wasn't very "bright" lol. There were a lot of gray and depressing things, and not a lot of fun action, if that makes any sense.

Here is what our local tv station critics said about it:

I shortened the link because it was really long. If it doesn't work: go to myfoxkc.com and click on entertainment tab and then the screening room. It's a mini movie and it talks about a couple of movies before this one. They liked it and gave it 3 out of 5 popcorn bags...said not great but good. Hope it helps.

We were going to take the kids to it, but read the reviews so we haven't yet. Then we decided to go see Bedtime Stories, but the reviews were even worse for that one, so we didn't end going at all.

where did you hear bad reviews? if they are saying bad things about this darling tale/movie...i'm for sure done with movie critics!! they always have the opposite opinion of the general public.

megan...the movie was hands down adorable!!!

it strayed from the book in a few places, but it was still wonderful, with an amazing message!

take your kids, you won't regret it. in fact, if you go and hate it, i'll buy you a $5 GC to the shoppe.

it's super!!!

i'm so glad to hear this! i really want to see it. i didnt read the book. but my heart melts everytime i see that mouse with those adorabley huge ears  :D

We took our boys on opening night. My oldest son's 4th grade teacher organized an outing for the whole class. It made me cry at the end, if that's any indication of how good it is. My boys LOVED IT! They both said it was very different from the book, but were begging for us to go again/buy the movie as soon as it comes out on DVD. I think it has a wonderful message - a must see movie!

Ok Lizzy... I hated it! :)

Not really, I actually ditched the kids with grandma and grandpa so they saw this and my husband and I saw Valkyrie.

My 3 year old was more interested in walking the aisles and talking to people (she thinks she's a movie star apparently) but my 5 year old son loved it. :)

My mom took Kassi to see Despereaux yesterday afternoon (part of her Christmas present from the grandparents) and they really liked it.
