Ugh it's bugging me...(80's help)

There was a store in the 80's that I had a gazillion outfits from. You could mix/match things from the store..I remember shopping there all the time w/my sister and mom. Stuff was sometimes stored in cubes. I remember this horrid ugly striped shirt, stretch pants, and this waistband bandeau type thing that all color coordinated together. Anyways, I was just thinking about it and it's bothering me that I don't remember the name. Figured somebody might know lol

UNITS
A one-size-fits-all clothing store featuring knit skirts, shirts, belts and leggings in coordinating colors. The clothes were sold in UNITS boutiques located in malls throughout the United States. You could buy six different pieces of UNITS clothing and create an entire wardrobe from them. It goes without saying that UNITS did not make it out of the 80s.

UNITS!!!!! *I think*
We couldn't afford the 'real' UNITS, so my mom made mine. Funny how you brought this up because a girlfriend and I were talking about these the other day. Some store (can't think of the name) has a UNITS brand again.

Wow. I can even picture where that store was in the mall I used to shop! How totally bizarre. In my mall, it was next to a Benetton(sp?) shop...

um...Queen of Units here...I think I had every piece

here I am sporting a stylish Christmas ensemble for the Christmas Dance

I love there are others of you out there that were stylin' the units and rockin' the big 'ole hair! schweeeet!

In Canada we had a store like that called Au Coton. Everything was made of cotton (obviously LOL) and they had the headbands that were fabric that you could braid or twist together and stuff...I loved their sweatshirts.

We didn't have Units in my part of Connecticut--I've never heard of it. We did have Benetton and Au Coton.

I so gotta find my pics of me in my UNITS outfits.. I had white, pink, lavender

*lol* Corey.. it wasn't that long ago silly. I was born in '74

Beaver Canoe....I wish they were still around. They had great outdoorsy stuff, including backpacks!

I don't remember Units (I was born in '78) but I remember shopping at 5-7-9, Vanity, County Seat, Esprit & Maurice's to name a few!

how about layered socks? How many pairs did you wear at once? My BFF and I would switch so we each were wearing each others socks

ETA: we usually always wore 3 pair

We were all about Contempo over in Southern Cali... Contempo and Esprit. I have never heard of Units... I'm wondering if it was an East Coast phenomenon.
