View Full Version : POLL: Typos in layouts

If there was a typo in one of your layouts (I know I've had a few in mine LOL), would you want someone to let you know? I've seen several on BEAUTIFUL layouts and I want to let the person know but don't want to offend them either.
What do you do when you spot a typo? Or what would you want someone else to do if they spotted a typo on one of your layouts?
I know I'd be slightly embarrassed but would much rather correct it than to print out a page and then notice it after the fact (been there done that LOL).
Thoughts please!

well me...nah, I don't care about typos. I'm human so it's ok if my layouts have flaws! But, if someone told me I wouldn't be upset either. I'd probably just tell them, "yeah, I know." LOL...I don't save an editable version so I print as is.

uh....those would be my LOs LOL!
Yes!!!!!!!!! Tell me please.....I'm horrible at proof reading and I've printed out LOs and then noticed mistakes after.
I would definitely want to know

I would love to have someone point it out but preferrably by PM, not in the comments section. This would be so much better than printing out a page that is wrong. I could also fix the image in my gallery so that others wouldn't need to know what a bad speller I am.

I totally would want to know! I've had a few and I would hate to print it before noticing. I agree with Paula, maybe a PM would be the best way to tell them.

LOL, I don't save editable versions either. I did one LO of Rachel on Christmas Day 2006...and posted it soon after. The only problem? The title was 'Christmas 2007', and it was BIG...I got alot of comments on the page, but nobody ever mentioned the fact that the date on the page hadn't even rolled around yet!

i wouldn't be bothered if someone pointed it out. though i'm a big spell checker so it probably doesn't happen often. (watch, someone point out several now, lol!)

If you see one in mine...PLEASE let me know...usually I post a layout before I print it out! I always save the PSD version and print from it so I would be able to change it.

there are always typos in my LO's!!! My brain is going faster than my fingers most of the time!!! I think a PM would be better.

When I share a layout, it is an editing stage for me. I sometimes catch the error but I am grateful for any feedback!! The ladies here are always respectful and generous.

I have done the same thing! I just Photoshop'd it to change the date.

If I noticed it, I would pm or email the person. If I made an error, I would like to be notified as well.

i wouldn't care at all if you started a thread to inform me of a typo. cc doesn't bother me one little bit.

OK I would ignore them personally. I know Ive had typos on my layouts and it isnt a spelling error on my part but because I am a horrible typer LOL. Funny story though I had a layout where it said one thing but when you read it it kinda looks like something else thats not so good on a layout. Ill find the link real quick and see if you can spot it :-)

OK now I remember what was so funny about this. My husband read it and said what do you mean 'everybody getting a dong?' Im like I didnt write that and I looked and said ummmm it says "everybody getting ALONG!!"

I posted a similar thread a long time ago (without a poll) about people wanted to be notified of typos and there were a mix of replies. Many people didn't want to know if they had a typo, which actually surprised me. If I knew the person and thought they'd want to know, I would definitely PM them. I wouldn't leave it in the comments because I wouldn't want to embarrass them and also if they decide to reupload, the comment would no longer apply.
I ALWAYS want to know if I have a typo. Sometimes even though I read and reread things, I still miss errors. Especially in my journaling. I try to use the spell check in PS if I have lots of journaling (although, I'm not much of a journaler).

When I see one in someone else's LO I tend to do nothing because I don't want to offend anyone. But if someone noticed a typo in one of my LOs, I'd want them to tell me. Gallery comment, PM, whatever. I sometimes don't notice until I print, but better to fix it before I print. (I save the layered file until I've printed because I know I spot errors more easily on paper than on screen. After I've printed and proofread I delete the layered one.)

I have typo's all the time in layouts. LOL! I do shutterfly books too, so their is no way to take them out. Doesn't matter to me either way to be honest.

I'd want to know and frankly I don't care how I'm told. I know I'm a horrible speller and I'm ok with that. :p I'd rather be called out on here then have blantant errors in my printed books. I try and spellcheck, especially if I'm not sure on a word. But, sometimes one slips through...

I'd personally like to know (privately probably over publicly), but I doubt I've ever spoken up unless specifcally asked. I know SO many people who never print their pages and/or who only post English versions of their pages because of CTs, and those people really don't necessarily care.
I do save layered files of all my pages. Haven't purged any of them yet.

I like to know if I have typos!
If I see one on the LO of someone I know I'll PM them. I don't say anything to people I don't know though cuz you never know how they might take it. KWIM?

Oh I would SO want to know! I had a typo that I didn't even notice until I had it printed in a book. It bugs me every time!

When I see one in someone else's I just ignore it. We are all human. And who knows, it may even be intentional. I like to use phrases that make sence to my kids, since they are who I scrap for. So it may seem wrong but it is right to them.
I am with Lena on this... I don't save in editable format. So if I see a typo it means I have to deal or do the whole thing over. This was always my biggest pet peeve with paper scraping. Get the whole layout just right, go to journal and screw it up. You would think I would save editable. But no! :p

I'm horrible at typos, in scrapping and in real life...I type so fast that often times I don't even realize it...and honestly you can tell me, but I don't save editable versions of my LO's so they are there forever.
It's part of who I am and I'm not unhappy that it comes out in my LO's...I don't think my family will look back and think...DANG-Mom is a horrible speller, I think they will look back and say...DANG-Mom has always been the typo queen...
Feel free to let me know, but I'm unable to do anything about it, its just me!

I never notice them usually because I have my resolution set so small I can never read the journaling! It would not bother me if someone told me but since I don't save an editable version or even print my layouts it doesn't matter to me. I would not tell someone else unless I knew it would not offend them and I would PM them.

This is totally how I am about it too, and I save an editable copy...I just feel sometimes like typos are part of life.

I wouldn't tell anyone, especially someone I don't know.
I could care less about typos. My paper pages had mispellings and stuff, why should my digi pages be any different? LOL!

I have had a few of those too, yes call my attention to it. I try to save a psd file for a little while before I am completely flat just in case now. :(
Sometimes it's not noticeable to be until it's pointed out then I am like "oh man!"

I'd want to know! But I'm not sure I'd say anything to someone. I think I would, but I don't know. Probably only people I "know." When I printed my 2008 book, I went through and read every single layout (like 133 or so) and had SO many typos. So, I proof read it anyway... but yeah, it'd be nice not to have to fix it when I'm ready to print.

I would not be offended if someone pm'd me to let me know.
But honestly? I don't give a flip either way. I yam who I yam and if it gives my family or the general public something to laugh about (or) learn from in the future then yeehaw go doggie :p
p.s. this goes for grammar too.
Yes, I would love to be told. Sometimes, you just miss them and I'd rather fix my copy to be printed at least so that my hard copy won't have the typo.

LOL, this sounds like me, I can reread something of my own about 3 times and still miss it!!

I'm sure this had been talked to death but this is my feelings.
1.If you see it on mine feel free to let me know, but chances are I'm not going to fix it because I've already uploaded it for printing! My family knows I'm a horrible speller....it's part of the charm of who I am and my pages!!!
2. If I see it I just ignore it, I don't want to run the risk of embarrassing someone or ticking them off.....plus who knows....maybe they spelled it that way on purpose!!

If (and when!) I make typos I definately want someone to let me know! I try not to make them but sometimes they slip through and it irks me when I realize after I've printed the page, lol!
One time I made a HUGE error and I was SO glad that someone mentioned it to me. I had used one of Christy's big circle date stamps and instead of May 2008, I put May 2009. The only reason I noticed it and got it fixed before printing was from someone pointing it out to me, lol!

I usually don't notice typos because English isn't my mother language. And for the same reason, I'd love people to let me know when I have made one!! LOL
