SICK OF ALASKA!!!

I'm so sick of this place. The last 2 winters didn't bother me, but for almost 2 weeks now we haven't seen temps about 0. Today it was -25 when I left the house with a wind chill of -39. It was colder here this weekend than Barrow, Alaska "google it, its the northern most tip of the US". I'm seriously going to lose my mind if it doesn't hit ZERO soo.

Sorry for my rant. All my friends from home (Florida) keep reminding me its in the 70's there.

My hair FROZE this morning when I walked outside. It was just a little damp. :cursing::cursing:

Uggg that sucks Vanessa, how much longer do you guys have up there?
One of my good friends just moved up to Juno in August and they love it...They ski almost every day.

Im sorry its so miserable. I dont want it to be that cold but it would be nice to have a day that was cold enough to wear jeans and not sweat half to death (even though they say its in the 70's it sure as heck feels like 80's and 90's!!)

I love cold and I love snow, but that is a bit extreme for even me. Frozen hair? Good grief. Hope you get outta there soon

well you are a trooper, that's for sure, Vanessa.

if it's any comfort, I couldn't find any of the $7.50 iTunes cards at my Target. They said it must a regional thing . . .

Oh, I so feel you! Its been just miserable here in North Dakota this winter, too. We had record amounts of snow. We had more snow here in December then has ever come in one month in recorded history here. 33.5 inches. And more has fallen in January and more is forcasted for tomorrow! Plus its been that miserably cold, too, so shoveling sucks so bad. I have a feeling its gonna be a bad winter.

I was in Alaska with the military in 2001 in March and it was colder here in ND than therewhen we went.

I will gladly trade the cold for ice Vanessa :)

We had 7 inches of wet snow come down late last night and it turned to rain early this morning which created about 4 inches of ice. I have a long uphill driveway, and when I tried to get up it tonight I couldn't get all the way up, before I could even put it in reverse and back down, I started sliding down backwards - ended up off the driveway stuck in a snowbank and had to walk home carrying Melanie. I had to get out the passengers side, and my groceries are still in it. Not been a fun night. Of course DH is out of town until tomorrow.

I won't complain about all the snow, at least I can drive in it :) We normally get around 50 inches a year. We had 105" last year. And this year we had 65" just in December. Very screwy weather!

I hear ya, Vanessa. I'm not in Alaska, but it's freakin' cold here too! With windchill we're regularly at -20. Brrrrrrrr.

We're out of here in June thank god!

Snow I can handle, when I was stationed in Japan we got 170 inches the first winter I was there and that was coming straight from Florida. I don't mind that, actually thought this part of Alaska would be pretty similar. WRONG!

This is the longest cold spell we've had in the almost 3 years we've been here, but its just awful. Keira keeps asking to go out and play because its sunny. It's only sunny in the winter here if its super cold. I'm just sick of it.

What happened to the global warming that was going on? LOL!

Oy now I feel guitly for complaining its cold here LOL Well I proimse it is but not THAT cold whoa! You poor thing!

Actually Vanessa...it was sub zero for 6 daysDec 30th -Jan 4th...on Jan 4th it warmed up to a balmy zero. So it has started again and we are up to 3 days now...The longest sub-zero cold streak was 14 days in 1914 or something like that :) Just want you to know fo' show. (I saw this on the news in the break room)

oh brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Ok I guess I will quit complaining about temperature here...it's 18 degrees here right now...but tomorrow will be a lot warmer (high 50's) but then cold the next day (back in teens)...my biggest thing is the temperature keeps jumping up really warm one day and then in the teens the next day...seems to make everyone get sick because the temperature doesn't stabilize. I have never gotten used to really cold temperatures...and you have it much much colder than we do.

I've always been curious...when you get a "good" snowfall...how much snow do you get? How long does it take for the city to get you shoveled out? Are your power lines above ground? Do you lose power often?

If we get 6" here in Kansas City it can slow us down big time for a whole day or two...4" tops and the schools close! I'm sure you're probably giggling about that one...any ice and they are closed right away. Generally our snowfalls (so far this year) have not even completely covered the top of the grass. We had an "ice storm" (which is still probably nothing like you get) back about 8 years ago...we lost power for 12 hours but the street down about 3 houses away lost it for over a WEEK...some for almost 2 weeks!! Our power lines are up on the telephone poles.

I'm curious...if you have time...I'd love to discuss your experiences with my boys.

Here is hoping you get some warmer weather! <where is that global warming? our winter has been colder so far this year!>

I feel for you! I'm such a whiner when it comes to weather, I complain about it all year long LOL I've got nothing to complain about compared to you.

Wow where do you live?! I'm the kind to stockpile groceries just because I don't like getting out in the bad weather....you poor thing having to carry a baby through it! Glad you are ok though! Wow 105" would bury our city! I've lived in Kansas City since 1970 and now you have me wondering what our maximum snowfall has been in a year...I'm betting 10" would be the max!

Now I feel stupid for complaining about our 5-17 degree temps the last week. I can't imagine being that cold for that long... I'd give you big, fleece hugs if I could.

I have to admit though, your hair freezing gave me a little chuckle. ;)

It depends on a big snow fall, we can get anywhere from a few inches to a foot. Last year we got 22 inches in 24 hours.

We don't ever lose power and its usually all cleared the next day. They're ready for that here.

Very funny Amber. LOL!
